Previous Day

Status Beginning reassembly for 6“ tower after removing 600mK rod. Upper 100mK shield, MC spool, and upper IVC can all attached. Both LN2 traps warm and pumped out. Mixture in dump (LHe cold trap isolated at around 20 K). 1K Pot needle valve open. Cryostat vacuum jacket pumped out.
1100 Modify 150mm electrode for multiple source positions.
Full Electrode Screw holes countersunk so heads are flush with electrode face.
1130 Work on reassembly:
  1. Attach stripline heatsink at ceiling of IVC can. There are some useful pictures from 2015 April 14. We had marked the positions with red sharpie before disassembly to aid in reassembly. This attachment is done with slotted screws to prevent trapped air in the threaded holes in the IVC ceiling.
  2. Attach plates to ends of striplines. Recall that the sloped edge on plate should attach next to the stripline itself as it enters the plates, so there is no sharp edge when the stripline is flexed against the plates. OOPS - forgot to put the buckle on first.
  3. Attach bottom 100mK can. Stainless steel hex screws with washers.
  4. Scotch-brite top and bottom connecting surfaces of 30mK can for 6” tower.
  5. Attach 30mK can for 6“ tower. 2-person job. First put long threaded rod in one of the MC spool holes. Guide can up so that rod goes through one hole and thermometer plug goes through slot. One person holds tower in place while another inserts a couple of screws (brass philips-head). Then remove threaded rod and put in all screws and torque them.
  6. Attach middle IVC can (with 1.5mm diameter indium o-ring)
  7. Run striplines through buckle (after removing their covers) and attach buckle to upper edge of ring at bottom of IVC middle can. Then replace stripline end covers.
  8. Start to attach stripline heat sink at bottom of middle IVC can - but I think maybe the 6” tower adapter plate doesn't fit with this in place…
    1. yes - as noted on 2016 August 31, beginning of Run 60, the 6“ tower won't fit inside IVC if the stripline heatsink is in place.
  9. Remove stripline heatsink at bottom of IVC middle can.
  10. Put up clean tent
