Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt
Status Run 75 in progress
Setup Tower Faces 5/3/2 → Cables 2/1/3 → nothing/diverter_board+extra_board/nothing → Side2-readout HVboard CONN1/2/3 → HV1/2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3)
Lead shield in place. Am Source y = 0.03 mm
Testing Side2-readout HV board
0900 Goldman = 38.5 mK and stable.
0900 Set all QET biases based on yesterday's mini-IbIs and adjust driver offsets so baselines ~ -0.9 V. Pulses look good.
0920 Ramp HV up to 113.7V using RootSequencer. This is prebias
Strangely the pulses don't look very strong. What's going on?
0925 After 5 minutes ramp HV down to 99.13 V
Pulses look stronger, maybe it was just breakdown noise making them look weak.
0927 Start 99.13 V data series after 5 min 15% prebias, 41 min long, with 1000 initial randoms, no in-run randoms, trigger on DCRC3pA threshold 5.
Start series with the Start Button.
1010 After stopping series dial HV down to 0.0 V using RootSequencer

Analysis notes:

  • Looking at yesterdays y=30mm data and today's y=0mm data, looking at where Am lines show up in partition space, it really looks like I've got the DCRCs swapped in the channel mapping! Very confusing - will need to stare at the HV board more.
1128 Goldman/Tower/MC(H35)/Coldplate = 38.5/66.8/30.2/167 mK, Still = 1.31 K / 0.110 mbar / 0 mW, G1/G2= 267/253 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.59 K / 10±1 mbar, MB = 34.9%
1130 Fill LN2 cold trap bath.
1437 Begin LHe transfer @ MB = 34.6%
1511 End LHe transfer @ MB = 94.9%

Attempting to understand the channel mapping for the Side2-readout HV board:

  • Looking from the DCRC-side of the board, the cable connections are CONN1, CONN3, CONN2 left-to-right. They're labeled this way on the box, and this agrees with electrical checkouts we performed on the board.
  • Connections according to the pinout spreadsheet and confirmed by checkout are as follows:
    • CONN1-A/B/C/D → HV/HV/HV/CONN4-D ; CONN3-A/B/C/D → CONN5-A/CONN5-B/HV/CONN5-D ; CONN2-A/B/C/D → CONN4-A/CONN4-B/HV/HV
    • But during the checkout we didn't make a note of which connectors were CONN4 and CONN5. It was obvious at the time, but we didn't mark them. (And there are no CONN-number IDs on the board.)
  • Without disconnecting everything it's difficult to see much on the board. But I can see that there are leads from CONN1 that go to the right side, and I remember them going all the way over from one side to the other. That would indicate that CONN4 is the right-side DCRC connector
  • So this seems to indicate that on the Side2-readout HV board, the LEFT DCRC connector is CONN5, the RIGHT DCRC connector is CONN4
  • On the box the DCRC connnections are labeled “DCRC1” on the left, “DCRC2” on the right
  • This is NOT what I assumed, because it seems to be the opposite convention on the Side1-readout board:
    • On the Side1-readout board, CONN1-A → CONN4-A according to the pinout spreadsheet
    • And this channel was connected to DCRC1, which was plugged into the connection labeled DCRC1 (which we often refer to on the wiki as “HV1”)
    • So, on the Side1-readout HV board, the LEFT DCRC connector is CONN4, the RIGHT DCRC connector is CONN5
1705 Reset SQUID settings on all channels to match 2-sided settings from Jan 31 according to corrected mapping.
