Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Pramod
0810 Matt Fritts body temperature = 97.5 F
Setup Run 73. DIB 1/3/4 → Stripline 43/48/41 → Cable 3/1/2 → nothing/nothing/accessory_interposer → HV_Conn 1/3/2 → HV 1/2 → DCRCX(4)/DCRC50(3)-master; DCRC33(2) → HV control. DCRCs on overnight. Lead/poly shield erected (4 lead walls, 2 poly walls).
0730 MB 27.1%
0810 Tower = 56.6 mK, G1/G2= 262/240 mbar, Still = 0.150 mbar / 5 mW, 1K Pot = 1.67 K / 36±2 mbar.
Tower has wavered, fell as low as 60.4 mK at 3am then wandered back up. More steady for the last 4 hours.
0920 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 56.5/30.4/188 mK, Still = 1.45 K / 0.15 mbar / 5 mW, G1/G2= 263/240 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.67 K / 36±2 mbar.
0946 Begin LHe transfer @ MB = 21.0%
1005 Try adjusting phonon channels. Lowered a number of QET biases, now see strong pulses on every working channel (DCRC4pA/Side1pE is not operational, like last run it behaves like an open TES). But there is ugly noise. Let's try zapping SQUIDs.
1005 ZAP all SQUIDs on DCRCs 3&4
1010 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
1023 End LHe transfer @ MB = 92.6%

quick SQUID Tuning notes:

  1. Trigger on Test Signal
  2. Connect Test Signal to feedback, 400 Hz, maybe 100 mVpp
  3. Set Polarity to OPEN and ADCsource to PREAMP
  4. Start with QET bias = 0, Lockpoint = 0, SQUID bias = 0
  5. Increase SQUID bias (negative for RevC.1, positive for RevC) to maximized modulation depth (Vpp) while avoiding cusps
  6. Increase Lockpoint (negative for RevC.1, positive for RevC) so that x-axis intersects at point with high slope
  7. then set back to normal: disconnect test signal, set ADCsource to FEEDBACK, set Polarity to NON-INVERTING
1100 Tune SQUID settings on DCRC3pC (we did DCRC3pB yesterday)
Seeing some ugly noise on most channels. Let's try powercycling the DCRCs
1105 Turn off DAQ programs, unplug DCRCs
1110 Power DCRCs, restart DAQ programs. ZAP all SQUIDs on DCRCs 3&4
1150 Try to find good QET biases for all working channels. Some of them have very ugly pulses shapes, others OK
1155 MB = 91.1%
1230 The tube for transferring LN2 burst today. Trying to order another from the chem stockroom.
1325 Rig up a long copper pipe to attach to the LN2 Dewar which extends all the way to the LN2 Trap Bath Dewar
1400 Pick up new tubing from Chem Stockroom
1400 Matt finally leaves lab
1705 Do quick IbIs on DCRC4pB. It turns out that the QET bias we chose to use earlier is not fully in the transition region. so we chose a lower value. But the pulse shapes at this lower value are ugly.
2145 Matt Fritts body temperature = 98.6 F
