Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Himangshu, Zach
Status Run 76 finished
Setup DCRC33(2)→HV control, NaI trigger signal → DCRCX(4)
IVC closed and Turbo pumping for a while. No tower - this was just for a leak test.
1330 During group meeting, we discussed about the Am241 pallet source being protruding outside by about 1/16“ which means we need to press it against the detector housing when installed. Matt suggested to make rectangular block of 1/16” height which will be like a washer for the source and help avoid pressing it firmly with screws
1429 We went to the machine shop to make that rectangular block piece. We found a 0.09 inches Copper block which is little more than what we need(0.06 inches) but we decided to use it. The center hole is made with 7/16“ drill bit and the through hole for one screw is drilled with 5/64” (0.0785 inches) drill bit. Plan
Finished part
1516 Inspected the Y-motor wires to look for any wire breaks. No visible breaks. The 4 pins soldering work looks filmsy, so removed the Kapton tape to have a closer look
1530 Found Pin 1 wire broken at the tip where the wire is soldered onto the pin. Also found Pin 4 about to break off if pulled a little.
1616 Soldered the two pins Pin1 and Pin4 wire firmly onto the pins using solder material. Measured resistance between Pin1 and Pin2 to be 90.4 ohm and Pin 3 and Pin 4 to be 90.6 ohm.
1645 Tried moving the Y-motor using software. The Y motor-arm moved smoothly to desired location. will do more measurements tomorrow.
