2022/12/19 (Monday)

Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt, Himangshu
Status Run 76 finished
Setup DCRC33(2)→HV control, NaI trigger signal → DCRCX(4)
IVC open, tower removed. Mixture in dump. Warm LN2 Trap 1 clean. Clean tent erected at bottom of fridge.
1245 Remove clean tent from bottom of fridge.
We plan to redo the stripline elbow seal. We will begin disassembly of the IVC, as was last done on 2021 May.
1310 Remove bottom stripline heatsink. Requires 5.5mm crescent wrench and 2.5 mm Allen key. Put pieces in labeled bag. Detach stripline buckle from top of the lip at the bottom of the IVC middle can, leave hanging at end of striplines (it will stay there until I remove the stripline connector covers)
1325 Remove middle section of IVC. First loosen all screws. Remove all but two, leave those loosened to 1-2 mm. Insert screws into the two push-holes and tighten them down to break the indium seal. One person then holds the can while the other removes the last two screws, then carefully lower can and put on table on wipes, taking care not to scratch bottom o-ring surface.
1340 Remove 30mK can, which is attached with 6 brass screws
1355 Remove MC spool. Remove the center 10mm nut and 5 of the 7 screws. Then one person holds up spool while the other removes the last two screws.
1400 Remove 100 mK can (6 stainless steel 2.5mm Allen-key bolts with washers)
1420 Remove upper stripline heatsink. Unscrew all but two corner screws on one side, loosen those somewhat. Then sandwich layers can be slid off the striplines.
1435 Remove screws from the two seals for the upper IVC section, the top and the stripline tube port. Leave two screws in each loosened 2 mm. Then use the threaded push-holes to break both seals.
1450 Remove the covers at the ends of the striplines, and remove the stripline buckle.
1510 Finish removing upper IVC section. One person holds it up while second removes the remaining screws. First person lowers the can gradually, the second pushes the 600 mK rod toward the center so the can will clear it. Second person also makes sure the thermometer wire doesn't get snagged. When the can is lowered pretty far, second person works all stripline ends up through the port to free the can from the striplines. Then lower the can the rest of the way and remove it.
