| Status | Run 76 prep. All mixture in dump. LHe Trap and LN2 Trap 1 still have contaminants. Cryostat Vacuum Jacket pumped out. Tower removed. |
|---|---|
Clean surfaces of 2D source mover housing with ScotchBrite and isopropanol.
Identify 0-direction on 2D source mover. If viewed from above with the two stop points at the bottom, the 0-direction is to the right. Mark the brass base plate with a black dot and mark the outside face with a piece of yellow tape. On S104 the conventional y-axis points to a housing face (positive is away from DIB1). The x-axis points to a housing vertex. So if we want the 2D source mover aligned in some simple way with the detector we should have the 0-direction pointed in detector +y or -y.
Solder pins to the ends of the 2D source mover piezo wires
We want to connect the Goldman thermometer to the fridge thermometer wires this run. It has a short female connector, so we want to extend this so that the wires will come out of the 30mK can to connect to the fridge wires. Cut four lengths of 32-gauge magnet wire. We have this in reddish and goldish so use two of each: one color is +side of thermometer (outer pins on connector), one is -side (inner pins on connector). Cut to 37 cm
Strip wires with sandpaper on two sides and solder to a 4-pin female connector, gold on outside pins, red on inside pins
Solder pins to other end of thermometer connector (we don't have male connectors with this pitch)
Test fit of 2D source mover on tower. Striplines and piezo wires are the right length. The motor striplines can't plug in right next to each other, need at least one pin between.
Discover one bad solder connection on 2D source mover striplines: Y4.
Test thermometer connector by bringing Goldman thermometer into clean tent and connecting to fridge wires. Reads 2.04 kOhm at bridge, good.
Resolder loose 2D source mover stripline wire Y4.
Plan tower wiring. In Run75 we used Tower faces 2,3,5 for the SQUETs (these are the only faces with no problems). We plugged accessories into Face 4 and the interposer plugged into the SQUET on Face 3. Would it make more sense to use Face 6 for accessories and interposer at Face 5? Because Face 5 has no neighboring SQUETs. Should also consider the implications of how they will plug into the HV board.
Try stack arrangement with 2D source mover striplines oriented above Face 4 and detector in Run75 orientation: DIB1 over Face5. That aligns source mover 0-direction with +y detector axis, that's pretty good. But not sure that's what we want.
Tower-level electrical check of 2D source mover coils. Y12/Y34/X12/X34 = 142.7/146.3/143.6/141.1 Ohm.
