Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt, Scott
Status Run 76 prep. All mixture in dump. LHe Trap and LN2 Trap 1 still have contaminants. Cryostat Vacuum Jacket pumped out. Tower removed.
1105 Tape wires from 2D source mover Y-stripline down on bench, use very fine sandpaper to scrape off insulation. Turn stripline over and repeat. Ohmmeter shows ~ 90 Ohm for each coil.
1110 Trim 2D source mover Y-stripline wire ends to around 1.5 times the length of the solder post on the connectors
1125 Begin soldering Y-stripline wires to mini connectors. Twist wire around post with tweezers. Wound up re-sandpapering with somewhat less fine sandpaper to get a better surface for solder to stick.
1145 Finish soldering connector to Y-stripline. Connector is at a right angle to stripline, should help to plug in to tower.
1155 Sandpaper ends of wires on X-stripline. With the coarser grit I accidentally broke one wire kinda short. Will still work, but need to be careful.
1215 Finish soldering connector to X-stripline.
1220 Cover connector base on 2D source mover striplines with Kapton tape strip on each side.
1225 Connect 2D source mover stiplines to controller connectors.
1230 Connect 2D source mover to controller, plug in controller, turn on controller software on laptop. Try some programs, seems to move properly.
1330 More bench tests of 2D source mover. Turned the mover upside down, supported on two wire spools - all basic functions (including piezo recalibration) seem to work.
