  • Lab in-personnel: Matt, Scott
Status Run 76 prep. All mixture in dump. LHe Trap and LN2 Trap 1 still have contaminants. Cryostat Vacuum Jacket pumped out. Tower removed.
1515 Estimate length we want for 2D source mover wires from housing to Tower sockets. Assuming that source mover will be in Position 1 and we use the standard length spool. Account for reaching the Tower sockets and also for securing it down along the spool: 18 cm. If we use a shorter spool then there will be extra length that we'll have to loop. If we ever think we'd put it in Position 2 then we'd want an additional 3.5 cm.
1600 Oops - realized that the 2D Source Mover is mounted in the housing such that it points down (toward tower) rather than up. We had thought that we'd be installing it in Position 1 pointing up, but it's not in the housing that way. To switch it at this point would be difficult, particularly because of the piezo epoxied to the inside of the housing.
Two options: 1) build mating rings so that the housing could be put in the tower upside-down and still mate properly above and below, or 2) change plans and flip the source mover over, put it in Position 2 pointing down at the detector below in Position 1. We intend to go with Option 2. Scott thinks the source mover will work just as well upside-down. But he'll want to test it on the bench.
Currently the mover can't be tested because the connectors to the controller have been removed. We will replace these with mini-connectors to mate with the Tower sockets. For testing we will probably want some sort of accessory connector that the mini-connectors can plug into, and the accessory connector will be soldered to the controller connectors.
New estimate for length of the striplines is the previous 18 cm plus 3.5 cm for Position 2 plus an additional 3 cm because the wires don't come out of the dib slot (which is toward the bottom of the housing) but rather a different hole at the top edge. So total is 24.5 cm.
