Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt
Status Run 75 prep.
All mixture is in dump. Fridge isolated. 1K Pot isolated. LN2 Trap 2 still has contaminants in it. MB in pit, clean tent erected. Cryostat vacuum jacket (CVJ) pumped out.
Tower installed, SQUETs/striplines plugged in but not screwed in yet.
Tower installation
SE/NW/W → Tower Face 5/2/3 → SQUETs ZC-13/ZC-70/ZC-39+interposer → Striplines 41/43/48 → Cables 2/3/1
1045 Quick electrical check of Cable1/Face3. No opens but there are shorts, in particular QETs shorted to chassis.
1055 Unplugged SQUETs from W and NW - can see short from QETs to chassis at the fridge. Unplug SQUET from SE - short disappears. Hmm.
1115 Plugged SQUET back into SE, short does not reappear. But when I plug ZC-70/SL43 into either W or NW, short appears (not as strong though, 10 MOhm). Hmm…
1125 Looks like SQUET ZC-70 has some shorts to chassis. Remove it from stripline to test on the bench.
Shorts not seen at the bench. Hmm. Stripline shorts??
1130 Found a short from a SL-43 pin to chassis. But then I followed Cable 3 and saw it was still plugged into the HV diverter board and a DCRC. Unplugging the cable made the short disappear.
1140 Plug all SQUETs back in (not screwed in though). No QET short seen to chassis.
1140 Quick Cable 2 electrical check - all phonon stuff looks OK. LEDs look OK.
1150 Quick Cable 3 electrical check - at first Feedback A read too high. Loosening the SQUET/stripline connection slightly fixed this. After that all phonon stuff looks OK.
1200 Plug in accessory wires at SW/Face 4
1315 Quick Cable 1 electrical check - at first some SQUETs and Feedbacks read too high, squeezing the SQUET/interposer/stripline connection fixed them. After that all phonon stuff looks OK. Also motor coils, endstops, Goldman thermometer look OK. Consulted accessory wiring table to locate these.
1345 Screw SQUID cards and FET cards to bottom of Tower
1425 Full electrical checkout of all 3 striplines at BOB - all good! everything connected, no shorts. (Skipped all charge-related connections.)
1600 Attach heatsinks to Tower 4K stage. One heatsink has broken off of the braided cable. Another one wouldn't fit between the two SQUETs next to each other - we'd have to take a SQUET off to get it in, so we didn't bother.
1630 Clean surface of IVC bottom, put new indium 1.5mm diam o-ring on it (with a very small amount of vacuum grease). Saw a scratch on bottom of IVC middle piece, tried to buff it out with ScotchBrite.
1640 Attach IVC bottom, start tightening screws.
1705 IVC screws are pretty tight.
Start gently pumping out IVC with Scroll Pump.
1730 IVC = 0.12 mbar, close enough. Switch to pumping IVC with Turbo Pump.
1740 Turbo on IVC = 0.4 ubar
Cryo stuff
1500 Check contents of warm LN2 Trap 2: 121.8 mbar. (This is from the last run, plus whatever leaked in since then.) Pump this out with Scroll Pump.
1520 Check contents of warm LN2 Trap 1: 9.3 mbar. Pump this out with Scroll Pump.
