Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Zach
Status Run 74 prep. 1K Pot pumped out and isolated. Fridge and 4He and LN2 Trap 1 isolated, not pumped out. Cryostat vacuum jacket pumped out. IVC open, tower removed.
1140 Matt enters lab
1310 Measure out 40 cm of NbTi wire from the second coil, then tape it onto the spool.
1315 Do video lab tour
1340 Put second source mover motor spool on winder shaft and wrap free end around shaft, tape it down.
1350 Wind NbTi onto spool.
Here's a video of the procedure:
1400 Finish winding NbTi onto spool. Carefully tape down the wound end before removing from the winder shaft, to avoid the disaster yesterday of the two ends getting tangled.
1420 Finish taping down the two ends on both of the spools with several cm loose, so Ruiren can electroplate them.
1450 Matt leaves lab
1510 Ruiren says that the two rewound coils each have resistances around 7.5 kΩ. This is close to what was measured previously.
Ruiren has electroplated one end of each coil:
