2020/12/14 (Monday)

Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Derek, Ruiren
Status Run 74 prep. 1K Pot pumped out and isolated. Fridge and 4He and LN2 Trap 1 isolated, not pumped out. Cryostat vacuum jacket pumped out. IVC open, tower removed.
1220 Matt Fritts body temperature = 97.5 °F
1320 Matt enters lab
1335 Measure the length of the wires that the motor coils were soldered to, from the motor all the way to the plug that connects to the tower: about 40 cm.
I'm planning to leave this much NbTi free on both sides of the coil, in case we want to use NbTi all the way to the tower.
1350 Tape down one of the NbTi wires to one of the motor spools, with 40 cm of spare wire extending past the tape.
1405 Wrap the spare length around the shaft of the winding setup and tape it down to keep it out of the way.
1415 Finish winding the wire onto the spool
1605 I should have taped down the final end of the wire before removing the spool from the winder. Some wire fell loose from the spool, and it got terribly tangled up with the other free end. Took two hours to untangle it. Finally taped both ends onto the spool.
1620 Matt leaves lab
