Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Zach
1514 Matt Fritts body temperature = 98 F
1553 Turbo on IVC = 14 nbar.
1613 With the turbo valved out for 5 min, IVC = 0.74 ubar.
1620 Squirted helium above the knurled ring for 1 second, leak rate 19 pbar*l/s → 137 pbar*l/s.
1625 Applied Apiezon Q sealing compound as a last resort to prevent leaks.
Q compound on stripline joint.
Further leak tests
signal reported is rise above base, base~20 pbarL/s
blast 1 sec from hose top of knurled knob 177
squirt 1 sec from needle top of knob to North 47
squirt 1 sec from needle top of knob to East 20
squirt 1 sec from needle various spots around KF flange <10 generally
1 m of tube length, through needle top of knob to North 27
1 m of tube length, through needle base of lower knob to North 0
1 m of tube length, through needle joint between knobs to North 80
Try pushing Q-compound more thoroughly into knurls, trying to close gaps
1 m of tube length, through needle joint between knobs to North 31
apply more Q-compound to make a complete sleeve, covering knurled knobs
1 m of tube length, through needle top of knob to North 0
1 m of tube length, through needle base of lower knob to North 0
1 m of tube length, through needle joint between knobs to North 17
looks like it's improving, will try more next time.
