Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Zach
1015 Turbo on IVC = 14 nbar
1027 With turbo valved out, IVC = 1.4 ubar
1032 Squirted helium near stripline elbow, leak detector 26 → 103 pbar*l/s.
1043 Loosened the upper knurled knob.
1045 Squirted helium near stripline elbow, then tightened knurled knob, leak detector rose to 100,000 pbar*l/s while knob was being loosened.
1046 Valve in turbo pump to get leak signal low again.
1048 Closed turbo valve.
1049 Squirted helium near stripline elbow, leak detector 33 → 220 pbar*l/s.
1130 Stop leak checking, slowly letting nitrogen into IVC.
1147 IVC is at 1 atm. Make some adjustments to the stripline elbow. Redid two KF connections so that T-pipe aligns better with elbow, with elbow pushed down to lowest position (the two knurled knobs in contact).
1159 Pump out IVC with scroll pump.
1210 Pumping out IVC with turbo.
1214 Switch to leak detector, signal low again, around 30 pbarL/s. Tried squirting helium near stripline elbow again, did not see any leak.
1238 Turbo on IVC = 40 nbar.
1245 Matt leaves lab.
1305 Turbo on IVC = 25 nbar.
1349 Matt Fritts body temperature = 98.6 F
1335 Turbo on IVC = 22 nbar.
1405 Turbo on IVC = 19 nbar.
1535 Turbo on IVC = 16 nbar.
1205 Turbo on IVC = 14 nbar.
