Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Zach
0944 Matt Fritts body temperature = 97.7 F
1040 Matt enters lab
1050 Check contents of warm LN2 trap 1 = 11.4 mbar, pump out with scroll pump.
1055 Check contents of warm LN2 trap 2 = 7.3 mbar, pump out with scroll pump.
1105 Start cryocleaning mixture through LN2 Cold Trap 1, V6 = 12.4%
1110 Increase V6 → 12.6% to restart flow
1135 Increase V6 → 12.9% to restart flow
1215 Stop cleaning through Trap 1 after 70 min. G2 flow pressure was 550-740 mbar. Pump mixture to dump.
Removed 13.3 mbar.
1230 Start cryocleaning mixture through LN2 Cold Trap 2, V6 = 12.9%
1240 Increase V6 → 13.0% to speed up flow
1250 Increase V6 → 13.1% to speed up flow
1320 Increase V6 → 13.2% to speed up flow
1340 Stop cleaning through Trap 2 after 70 min. G2 flow pressure was 550-735 mbar. Pump mixture to dump.
Removed 3.4 mbar.
1235 Turbo on IVC = 22 nbar. With turbo valve out for 5 minutes, IVC = 860 nbar
1245 Leak Detector on IVC, settles to 13 pbarL/s.
1245 Squirt a lot of helium gas around stripline elbow. LD rises to 50 pbarL/s. DAMMIT!
1415 Squirt helium through needle for 1 second at various locations:
Between knurled knobs at North: →28 pbarL/s
Between knurled knobs at other points: no rise
different points in the KF joint to the elbow: no rise
Above knurled knobs: South/East/North = 63/no_rise/42 pbarL/s.
1420 Full blast for a few seconds above knurled knob, all around: → 123 pbarL/s.
1422 Check contents of warm LN2 trap 1 = 13.3 mbar, pump out with scroll pump.
1435 Matt leaving lab.
2025 Matt Fritts body temperature = 97.3 F

Transfer line hanging on hooks from LHe recovery pipe
Vertical part of transfer line pulled to the side so that the Dewar can be rolled into place
After trying it out, I decided to hang the line on only two hooks, one at each end. The vertical part can then be lifted and inserted into the Dewar. You lift it off of the near hook. But then the far hook has to hold, or the line will fall. So I made a clip so that the line has less chance of slipping out of the far hook.
