2018/07/19 (Thursday)
| Status: circulation and 1K Pot suspended yesterday. Mixture in dump, MC and Still heaters on at 20 mW each | |
| overnight: Tower steady at 5.4 K, Sorb around 7K and slowly increasing, 1K Pot around 5.5 K and slowly increasing | |
| 0940 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 5.4/7.3/5.7 K, IVC = 74 nbar |
| The fact that we're stuck at 5.4 K even with the heaters on all night suggests a thermal connection to the 4K bath, e.g. helium in the IVC. Pressure in the IVC doesn't seem high but maybe I shouldn't trust the gauge? We should try pumping the IVC but first I'll try turning off the heaters like yesterday. |
|
| 0945 | Turn off MC and Still heaters |
| 1020 | Tower has fallen to 4.5 K, Pot and Sorb have gone up. 1K Pot >7K, Sorb = 10.6 K. Saw this yesterday too. It's as if having the heater on is boiling He into the IVC which cool the upper stages. Also IVC fell → 40 nbar (possibly lower, forgot to check it again) |
| 1020 | Turn MC and Still heaters back on → 20/20 mW |
| 1035 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 5.5/7.5/5.9, IVC = 74 nbar, close to before |
| 1040 | Begin pumping IVC with turbo Tower/Sorb/1K Pot temperatures are all starting to rise |
| 1150 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 7.9/11.1/>7 K |
| 1228 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 10.2/14.1/>7 K. Turn MC and Still heaters down to 10/10 mW |
| 1310 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 11.2/15.8/>7 K. Turn MC and Still heaters down to 5/5 mW |
| 1500 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 12.2/16.1/>7 K. Turn MC and Still heaters down to 3/3 mW |
| 1645 | Tower/Sorb/1K Pot = 12.5/15.9/>7 K. |
| 1648 | Fill LN2 cold trap. |
