2018/04/01 (Sunday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/2 → SL 43/41 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 3/1 → DCRC50(3)/55(1).
Overnight: Flash and take a set of 6V Ba series.
1014 Tower = 44.4 mK
1015 Start Sequence of 8 45 min Ba series using flashandtake_R67.msl, with DCRC bias = -6 V, with 30s flash(including initial flash), 15min cooldown, 1000 beginning randoms, and a 60/50/70/50 bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length). Good triggering
1418 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 45.6/54.7/208 mK, Still = 1.30 K / 0.040 mbar, G1/G2 = 97/84 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.39 K / 2.0 mbar. Main bath = 64.4%
1419 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1422 Tweak 1K pot needle valve. (Pressure was low but thankfully didn't cause a fridge failure). Wait to settle.
1434 P2 pressure = 30 mbar. (I'm heading out - let me know if I need to stop back in today, it's no problem)
1655 Data still seems to be going well, should be done in a few hours. Note to self: after will try an ~8V series with just Q4(DCRC1QI) triggering aggressively to look for the lower 241Am lines.
1940 Set DCRC bias = 8V using set_DCRC_bias.msl Disable all triggers except DCRC1QI(Q4). Use pulse viewer to find lowest tolerable trigger setting. Reduce trigger to DCRC1QI=35 ADC. This gives ~10% noise triggers in the pulse viewer.
1942 Start ??min series of 8V data with 1000 beginning randoms, and a 35/-/-/- bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length). Bad triggering
1949 Ugh, noise triggering in data. Why does there always seem to be a difference in how it triggers in the pulse viewer vs. in data? Raise trigger to DCRC1qI = 40 ADC
1952 Still noise triggering in data. Raise trigger to DCRC1qI = 45 ADC
1956 Still noise triggering in data. Raise trigger to DCRC1qI = 50 ADC
2001 Still noise triggering in data. Raise trigger to DCRC1qI = 55 ADC
2005 Still noise triggering in data. Raise trigger to DCRC1qI = 60 ADC (the current “standard” value)
2011 Still noise triggering in data. Raise trigger to DCRC1qI = 100 ADC as a sanity check.
2020 Still noise triggering because of course it is. Stop and restart the MIDAS run
2032 Of course it's fine now… Reduce trigger to DCRC1qI = 35 ADC
2039 Triggering well still. It'd be good to start over again with a flash, but it's working now and I don't want to break it!
2102 Tweak 1K pot needle valve open a few degrees.
2117 P2 = 28 mbar.
2148 P2 = 12 mbar.
2212 Stop run, ground detector.
2215 Start sequence of 8 45min series of 8V data using flashandtake_R67.msl with 30s flash(including initial flash), 15min cooldown, 1000 beginning randoms, and a 35/-/-/- bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length). Some good triggering, some noise.
