2018/03/23 (Friday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/2 → SL 43/41 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 3/1 → DCRC50(3)/55(1).
Overnight bias-sweep data. Last flash occurred at 5:08. Tower rises to 390 mK during flash.
0925 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 40.3/31.9/187 mK, Still = 1.46 K / 0.120 mbar, G1/G2 = 137/120 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.63 K / 28 mbar. Main bath = 66.3%
1K Pot is running lower than before but it was very stable overnight, we'll leave it for now.
0935 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
1309 Flash for 30s using flashandflash tool.
1311 Start 5min series of 5V data (DCRC bias), with 1000 beginning randoms, and a 80/80/100/80 bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
1312 Tower = 78.8 mK
1315 Stop Series Triggerfe was set to 20Hz randoms with no BOR randoms
1314 Start 1hr 50min series of 5V data (DCRC bias), with 1000 beginning randoms, and a 80/80/100/80 bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
1317 Tower = 49.1 mK
1324 Tower = 43.3 mK
1345 Tower = 40.4 mK
1415 Tower = 40.0 mK
1416 Apply 1 μW power to MC. Tower temperature increasing.
1419 Tower = 47.2 mK. Peaks there, falls to 46.2, oscillating a bit in that region.
1423 Tower peaked at 47.8 mK, then settled down to 45.4 mK
1426 Tower falls again, to 44.5 mK, then rises to 44.7, then falls.
1430 Tower = 43.3 mK
Turn off MC heater. Tower falls below 43 mK, settling slowly to base.

1502 MIDAS crashed, possibly a problem with the network - there were some issues with various computers in the Linux network. 1502 was the time of the last dump…
1605 Restart MIDAS.
1611 Restart DAQ programs.
1625 Looking at low-frequency noise on DCRC3 particularly qI. It comes and goes on a scale of 10s of seconds. Try a soft RESET of DCRC3. Doesn't help.
1630 Try hard powercycle of DCRC3. Doesn't help.
1630 Try swapping the DCRCs, so DIB1/2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3) instead of the other way around. The low-frequency noise followed the DIB, not the DCRC.
1640 Change back to the standard setup, DIB1/2 → DCRC50(3)/55(1)
1655 Set bias to +5V and experiment with trigger thresholds. Looks like we can get away with DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO = 50/40/60/40
1707 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1710 Start bias scan sequence of 30 min series , with DCRC bias = (2,4,6,8,10,12,-2,-4,-6,-8,-10,-12), with 30s flash, 30min cooldown, 1000 beginning randoms, and a 50/40/60/40 bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with 1.6384 ms pulses (8192 length) and 400 us prepulse (500 length).
