2018/01/19 (Friday)

Previous Day

Status: warmup finished. All mixture in dump, fridge isolated. LN2 traps warm and pumped out. 1K Pot needle valve closed. Tower removed.
Continuing fridge disassembly, in preparation for replacing striplines. Following guidelines from August 30.
1120 Middle IVC can removed. MC spool removed, after detaching thermometer wire - it was held in place with some teflon tape and one tabbed “bandaid” of kapton tape.
1230 100mK can removed. Measured stripline length from bottom edge of bottom piece of heatsink at IVC ceiling to the upper edge of the connector: shortest stripline = 28.75 inches. (Longest is about 3“ longer.)
Distance from bottom of lowest stripline baffle to top of IVC ceiling heatsink = 1 inch
1240 IVC ceiling stripline heatsink removed. Distance from bottom edge of lowest baffle to to upper edge of stripline connector, shortest stripline = 34.25 inches.
1300 Stripline end protectors and heatsink buckle removed.
1425 Upper IVC removed.
Stripline tube (wizard staff) removed: loosened the two compression rings at top, then gently lowered it through the fridge flange and all the baffles. When we got it out, noticed some zig-zag scratches near the top - we will want to try to polish the end, and protect it with tape as we did in the last installation.
1445 Remove end cap of E-box and disconnect stripline d-subs. There was not enough slack because the striplines were hanging freely - pushed them up from below for more slack, and wedged a screwdriver between a stripline baffle and a fridge baffle to hold them up.
1500 Remove rear E-box cap and disconnect from bellows. But I shouldn't have removed the cap - should leave this on. Pushed the stripline d-sub ends through the back and remove the e-box off of the fridge stand.
1515 Remove 2-belows-plus-t-connector tubing between e-box and stripline elbow, feed stripline d-subs through it and set tubing aside. Now we are ready to remove the striplines from the fridge. (No need to remove upper 100mK can or 600mK rod.)
