2017/12/05 (Tuesday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → SL 27/19/20 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 2,1,3 → HV board inputs 1,3,2 → HV board outputs 1,2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3). Also DCRC4 is powered and hooked up to control the HV setting.
0927 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 22.4/24.7/157 mK, Still = 1.2 K / 0.100 mbar, G1/G2 = 257/242 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.62 K / 24 mbar, MB = 68.5%
0933 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
0950 DCRC3pC and pD are railed. They seem to rail frequently. Try decreasing the front-end gains on these channels from 10 to 5. Also DCRC3 pB, because I had trouble adjusting it, kept falling into s/c.
1000 Adjust Driver Offsets to situate all baselines around 0.8 V, in prep for IbIs.
1010 Turn off EBox nitrogen purge, because room humidity much lower than yesterday - now 23%, yesterday 40%.
1025 Turn on HV by setting DCRC4q0 bias to 2.0 V.
1025 Set HV to 70 V with prebias by running sequence changeHV_0_70_preBias15_5.msl.
Took about 2 minutes to ramp up from 0 to 80.5 V. Then waits 5 minutes. Then steps down to 69.96 V
1038 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC1pA, from 650 to 350 step -1 uA, HV = 70 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks good.
1040 HV = 69.93 V, Vtest = 3.38 mV
1050 HV = 69.93 V, Vtest = 3.13 mV
1145 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, restart DAQ programs. Readjust driver offsets.
1145 HV = 69.91 V, Vtest = 2.82 mV
1146 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC1pB, from 600 to 300 step -1 uA, HV = 70 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks OK.
1200 Built a lead enclosure for storing the PuBe source barrel when not in the lab. We built lead walls in the red steel box that's currently in the 4th floor lab in the right-hand-side darkroom.

1235 HV = 69.90 V, Vtest = 2.77 mV
1235 Tower = 22.0 mK
1245 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, restart DAQ programs. Readjust driver offsets.
1250 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC1pC, from 650 to 350 step -1 uA, HV = 70 V, front-end gain 10, driver gain 1.
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks good.
1250 HV = 69.89 V, Vtest = 2.75 mV
1410 HV = 69.90 V, Vtest = 2.71 mV
1415 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, restart DAQ programs. Readjust driver offsets.
1419 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pB, from 750 to 350 step -1 uA, HV = 70 V, front-end gain 5, driver gain 1.
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks ok (lost lock several times).
1450 Get PuBe source from Tate and move to PAN 443. Met with Kevin Booth in TATE SB65 and got source from him. Placed it in the paraffin-filled barrel. Transported it to PAN using the PAN mailroom handcart, taking the Gopher Way tunnel beneath Church to Mech E, up to ground floor with Mech E freight elevator, then back to the passageway between Mech E and Rapson, out the east exit then to the back entrance of PAN and up the freight elevator. At 2:30-2:40 pm this was almost entirely free of foot traffic. Lifted the barrel into the lead-walled red container.
1530 Construct lead shield on North wall of shield. Now 3 walls are full poly+lead, South wall has NaI detectors and partial lead.
1530 Build up lead wall behind shield to block gammas from the PuBe source.

1545 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, restart DAQ programs. Readjust driver offsets.
1548 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pC, from 600 to 300 step -1 uA, HV = 70 V, front-end gain 5, driver gain 1.
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks good.
1645 HV = 69.89 V, Vtest = 2.71 mV
1650 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, restart DAQ programs. Readjust driver offsets.
1700 Estimate event rate from random traces. Set PhononWaveformLength on DCRC1 to 131072 which is 52.4288 ms and counted visible pulses in 39 pA traces. Counted 65 pulses in 2.0447 seconds, so event rate is around 31.8 ± 4 Hz.
1705 Start IbIs sequence on DCRC3pD, from 750 to 400 step -1 uA, HV = 70 V, front-end gain 5, driver gain 1.
Series finished to completion. Data looks OK.
1719 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1830 HV = 69.88 V, Vtest = 2.66 mV
1830 Reduce HV from 70 to 0 V using sequencer
2015 Flash LEDs on DCRCs 1&3 for 30 seconds
