2017/11/29 (Wednesday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → SL 27/19/20 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 2,1,3 → HV board inputs 1,3,2 → HV board outputs 1,2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3). Also DCRC4 is powered and hooked up to control the HV setting.
0850 Reboot the Windows machine vuk-01, which crashed last night.
0900 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
0920 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 22.4/24.8/155 mK, Still = 1.3 K / 0.100 mbar, G1/G2 = 236/209 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.64 K / 30 mbar, MB = 68.7%
0925 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, start DAQ programs
0940 Adjust driver offsets to get all six phonon baselines near 0.8 V
0945 Prebias for 5 min: Turn on power supply with DCRC4QObias = 2V. HV/DCRC4Qi = 0.1/10.76 V. Slowly ramp up to 52 V at 1V/sec by changing DCRC4/Charge/Bias (V)[0] by 0.1 V/sec by hand in the ODB. HV/DCRC4QI = 52.52/5.2 V
0955 Slowly ramp down to 45 V at 1V/sec by changing DCRC4/Charge/Bias (V)[0] by 0.1 V/sec by hand in the ODB. HV/DCRC4QI = 45.03/5.99 V
0957 Begin IbIs data sequence on DCRC3pC with HV=45V from 600 to 300 uA in 1.0 uA steps, 3 seconds of data per step. (IbIsDCRC3pC.msl)
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks good.
1015 HV = 44.97 V, V_leak = 2.00 mV
1050 HV = 44.98 V, V_leak = 1.78 mV
1110 HV = 44.98 V, V_leak = 1.77 mV
1115 Slowly ramp bias down to 0V (HV/DCRC4Qi = 0.01/10.765 V) and turn off power supply (set DCRC4QObias=0).
1115 Flash for 30s using flashandflash GUI.
1150 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, start DAQ programs
1150 Prebias for 5 min: Turn on power supply with DCRC4QObias = 2V. HV/DCRC4Qi = 0.1/10.76 V. Slowly ramp up to 52 V at 1V/sec by changing DCRC4/Charge/Bias (V)[0] by 0.1 V/sec by hand in the ODB. HV/DCRC4QI = 52.48/5.2 V
1155 Tower = 23.2 mK, looks flat
1155 Adjust driver offsets (some relocking) to get baselines around 0.8 V
1200 Slowly ramp down to 45 V at 1V/sec by changing DCRC4/Charge/Bias (V)[0] by 0.1 V/sec by hand in the ODB. HV/DCRC4QI = 45.00/5.99 V
1201 Begin IbIs data sequence on DCRC3pB with HV=45V from 750 to 300 uA in 1.0 uA steps, 3 seconds of data per step. (IbIsDCRC3pB.msl)
Sequence continued to completion. Data is OK but there were several SQUID lockpoint jumps.
1305 HV = 44.94 V, V_leak = 1.69 mV
1355 HV = 44.96 V, V_leak = 1.64 mV
1355 The Windows machine vuk-01 seems to have crashed again. Attempt to powercycle and reboot.
In attempting to reboot, seems to be in an infinite loop, Windows never starts.
messed around with startup options, unplugged one of the monitors, got it to boot.
1410 Slowly ramp bias down to 0V (HV/DCRC4Qi = 0.01/10.76 V) and turn off power supply (set DCRC4QObias=0).
1415 Flash for 30s using flashandflash GUI.
1420 Stop DAQ programs, restart MIDAS, start DAQ programs
1450 Tower = 23.2 mK, still falling slowly. Was 22.3 mK before flash.
1450 Prebias for 5 min: Turn on power supply with DCRC4QObias = 2V. HV/DCRC4Qi = 0.1/10.76 V. Slowly ramp up to 52 V at 1V/sec by changing DCRC4/Charge/Bias (V)[0] by 0.1 V/sec by hand in the ODB. HV/DCRC4QI = 52.48/5.2 V
1455 Tower = 22.6 mK
1455 Adjust driver offsets to get baselines around 0.8 V
1500 Slowly ramp down to 45 V at 1V/sec by changing DCRC4/Charge/Bias (V)[0] by 0.1 V/sec by hand in the ODB. HV/DCRC4QI = 44.98/5.99 V
1504 Begin IbIs data sequence on DCRC3pD with HV=45V from 750 to 450 uA in 1.0 uA steps, 3 seconds of data per step. (IbIsDCRC3pD.msl)
Sequence continued to completion. Data looks good. 700 to 400 uA might be better though.
1525 The Windows machine vuk-01 crashed yet again. Maybe it's happening when the screen saver comes on. Powercycle and reboot. Got stuck in the reboot loop again, went into settings and looked around, eventually it booted. On ControlPanel/Display/ScreenSaver/Power, set Turn Off Monitor to Never.
1555 Tower = 22.4 mK
1605 HV = 44.99 V, V_leak = 1.63 mV
1610 Slowly ramp bias down to 0V (HV/DCRC4Qi = 0.005/10.765 V) and turn off power supply (set DCRC4QObias=0).
note: misdialed 89 instead of 8.9 in the voltage input during ramp down, corrected it right away. Caused a temperature spike of a few mK.
1615 Flash for 30s using flashandflash GUI.
1620 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1704 vuk-01 has crashed again and is stuck in a boot-fail cycle. Holding the power button doesn't stop the cycle, it just tries to boot again. Pull the plug for now…
