2017/10/19 (Thursday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB 1/3/4 → 3.2 MHz filters 1/2/3 → cable 1/3/2 → gender changers → rerouting boards 1/3/4 → DCRC55(1)/33(2)/50(3)
Status: Cooling to base, baking overnight.
0805 Tower = 802 mK
0835 Looks like there was a DAQ crash. Probably the LEDs are still on.
0835 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 806/194/432 mK, Still = 1.19 K / 0.190 mbar, G1/G2 = 116/118 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.68 K / 55 mbar. MB = 36.0%
0840 Restart MIDAS DAQ. Start MIDAS programs (dcrc driver, tower fe, trigger fe). Tower temperature immediately starts to fall.
0845 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
0845 Looking at Sep 15 it says that the correct arrangement of SQUETs for the external LED wiring is DIB3 is ZC-26, DIB4 is ZC-37. But the run summary page shows the incorrect SQUET arrangement, DIBs 1, 3, 4 → SQUET ZC13, ZC37, ZC26… it wasn't updated. I'm worried that we have them in the wrong orientation now. But shouldn't that have shown up in the electrical checkout?
0835 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 358/113/387 mK, Still = 1.17 K / 0.160 mbar, G1/G2 = 104/107 mbar.
1030 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 321/99/393 mK, Still = 1.25 K / 0.160 mbar, G1/G2 = 97/98 mbar. Pressures are flat, Tower is cooling.
1253 Start LHe transfer (MB = 29.0%)
1407 End LHe transfer (MB = 88.7%)
1535 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 246/85/394 mK, Still = 1.20 K / 0.130 mbar, G1/G2 = 109/108 mbar. Pressures are flat, Tower is cooling.
1540 Apply 50.03 V bias to external electrode. Vtest < 0.00 mV.
1543 Start series of data with Vbias(external) = 50.03 V, with 1000 beginning randoms, and a 40 ADC bin threshold trigger all 5 charge channels except DCRC3qI = 50 ADC, with trigger baseline = 32 samples and trigger length = 10 samples (these are 2x the usual values).
1550 Dumps are quite large, 230 MB. Looking at pulses with BatViewer suggests DCRC3 is maybe the one with the highest noise. Increase DCRC3qI threshold 50→60 and DCRC3qO threshold 40→50.
1554 Dumps are still very large. Increase DCRC1qI and qO thresholds 40→50 ADC.
1603 Dumps are still very large. Increase DCRC3qO threshold 40→50 ADC.
1611 Dumps are still very large. After comparing today's peak-to-peak baselines with yesterday's, set the following: DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC2qO/DCRC3qI/qO = 50/40/50/80/60 ADC.
1618 Dumps are still very large. Raise each by 20: DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC2qO/DCRC3qI/qO = 70/60/70/100/80 ADC.
1625 Dumps are now down to around 80-100 MB. BatViewer shows a high percentage of visible pulses.
1640 Dump size is falling steadily, approximately exponential with time. From 16:21 to 16:34 the dump sizes have fallen from 130 MB to 40 MB. Should stop and flash.
1646 Stop data. Dial voltage to zero and ground detector.
1650 Tower = 229 mK.
1650 Flash for 60 seconds with DCRCs 2&3 using flashandflash tool. Tower temperature peaks at about 750 mK.
1700 Tower is down to 226 mK. Start some more data…
1700 Start series of data but forgot to set the bias. Dumb. Abort.
1700 Apply bias of 50.02 V to external electrode
1703 Start series of data with Vbias(external) = 50.02 V, with 1000 beginning randoms, and a 70/60/70/100/80 ADC bin threshold trigger on DCRC1qI/qO/DCRC2qO/DCRC3qI/qO, with trigger baseline = 32 samples and trigger length = 10 samples (these are 2x the usual values).
1710 Dump sizes are high, >200MB. But looking at BatViewer there seem to be reasonable pulses in all channels at the trigger time. So I guess it's ok.
1720 16 minutes of data, dump sizes still haven't decreased noticeably. Maybe at this rate it's hard to tell when we start to lose neutralization. Will continue for a bit more, then stop data and flash, then leave for the night.
1727 Stop data. Dial bias down to 0 V then short electrode.
1730 Flash for 60 seconds with DCRCs 2&3 using flashandflash tool.
1735 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
