2017/01/04 (Wednesday)

Previous Day

Status: IVC open, tower removed. Main bath vacuum jacket is evacuated. 1K Pot needle valve closed. LN2 traps clean. Mixture is in dump, fridge evacuated.
1235 Disassemble source holder, because I want to drill a hole in the plate as a window for LEDs. This plate is the one designed for three large Am sources and one small - it is therefore obsolete because we only have two large ones.
1250 Attach four LED boards to plate
1310 Drill 0.375“ hole in source holder plate, as window for LED light. Hole is centered about 1.7 cm from one edge of the hexagon, about 3.2 cm from the center
1340 Assemble source holder plate and LED plate into housing

Note that LEDs are arranged sort-of near the hole.
1345 Remove S101 from purge cabinet for stack assembly
1400 Remove detector crown from detector, scotch brite contact surfaces on crown and tower spool, attach crown to spool.
1415 Place detector on tower with DIB1 oriented to Tower Face 1, place source holder on top of detector with LED window opposite DIB1
Note: a wirebond looks popped. We will now do a quick electrical check to see whether repairs are necessary.
Source/LED housing is arranged so that the LED window is
opposite DIB1, since there are functioning LEDs on DIB1.
1423 Electrical check concerns - DIB1pB short to chassis = 38 ohms, specifically pin4 to chassis = 2 ohms (top side of detector). DIB4 pin 4 short to chassis = 4 ohms (bottom side of detector).
1437 While trying to push the wire bonds around a little, broke the wire bond for DIB4 pin 4. DIB1 pin 4 now seems to not be shorted.
1450 Return S101 to purge cabinet. Will need to repair DIB4 pin4 bond with the wirebonder. (This is one of the longest bonds, not surprising that it's a problem.) (Note this is TES0, Side1pF, center of Side1. We certainly don't want to sacrifice the channel.)
