2016/12/21 (Wednesday)

Previous Day

Status: IVC open, tower removed. Main bath vacuum jacket is evacuated. 1K Pot needle valve closed. LN2 traps clean. Mixture is in dump, fridge evacuated.
0925 G1 = 2.2 mbar, much lower than its increase the last two nights. So it's clear that air from the LN2 cold traps (probably mostly Trap 2) was leaking in, as opposed to outside air leaking in.
0945 Close IVC and partially take down mini clean-room to make more room for drilling holes in fridge ports
1045 Remove S101 from purge cabinet for inspection
1055 Check pin-to-DIB-pad continuity on DIB3 Side 2 pins 5 and 6. Both look fine. The wirebond connections to the pads look ok too. But pin 6 is open to everything else. So something is still wrong.
1105 Check pin-to-DIB-pad continuity on DIB3 Side 1 pins 1 and 2. These also seem fine.
1120 Move S101 up to wirebonder lab
1150 Attempt “surgery” on S101, looking at it under the wirebonder microscope and scraping the surface with a hypodermic needle. This seems feasible. Probably if I want I can do the surgery.
On Side2 DIB3 the pin1 bond has clearly come loose at the pad on the detector. Strangely this channel still seems to show its high-resistance continuity. Should check that again.
1200 Return S101 to purge
1520 Finish drilling second hole through fridge port for the transfer stick. Switched to a #45 drill bit by the end.
