2016/05/27 (Friday)

Previous Day

Status: Tower installed, IVC turbopumping overnight
0850 Turn on leak detector
0855 IVC = 54 e-6mbar pumping, 7.4 e-3mbar with pump valved out (after waiting 5 minutes)
0940 Leak detector has rather high background even with valve closed, around 30 e-9mbarL/s. Shut down leak detector, will try restarting it.
1230 With background of 6.5e-7 mbarL/s, performed leak check on IVC and pump manifolds and saw no change. Closed off valves to IVC at top of fridge and saw leak rate fall to 5e-8 mbarL/s. Proceeding to raise dewar.
1254 Before raising the dewar, vacuum inside main bath and clear dewar o-ring and dewar edge with wipes and isopropanol. Clean o-ring off and apply some vacuum grease. Both the o-ring and the groove on the main bath were rather dirty. Continue raising dewar.
1345 Evacuate He gas lines and pump out main bath with scroll pump, with IVC background leak rate of 6.0E-7 mbarL/s. Isolate scroll pump and flush main bath with He gas. No change in leak rate during flushing. Isolate He gas line and main bath, and pump out 1K Pot with scroll pump.
1355 Switch back to pumping on IVC with turbo pump and isolate scroll pump.
1405 Remove He recovery tube from port on top of Main Bath and commence LN2 transfer.
1410 Add 4.6mbar of He exchange gas to IVC.
1642 Fridge temperature at 124 K and slowly dropping.
1720 Fridge temperature at 110 K and still dropping.
1730 Fridge temperature 105K - still dropping. Turn off LN2 feed so we don't put too much liquid into the dewar.
1750 Fridge temperature at 100K.
1800 Pump out exchange gas so we can do a leak check tomorrow during the LN2 blow out.
1810 Fridge temperature at 97K, still dropping. IVC pressure at 3.0E-5mbar and still dropping.
