1515 Now that the epoxy's been drying for 24 hours, check to see if the test sockets are stuck on hard, and how they handle 77K temperatures.
Putting torque on the test sockets very easily removes the one held down with GE Varnish. The two held down w/ epoxy have a little give to them, but they stayed on.
Attempting to mate a pin into the test sockets causes both of them (even the one attached w/ a larger dab of epoxy) to become detached from the test PCB. The epoxy seemed to be pliable still, so further time to set may be necessary. Granted, the stated expiration date for the epoxy is October 2005, so that may be an issue.
Without placing too much stress on the epoxied socket on the Tower Face 3, test electrical connection between 4K stage and 30mK stage of tower. The electrical connection appears intact. Test all sockets on Face 3 to 4K tower ear ground, and no shorts found. The fixed short on socket 1 on Face 3 appears to have held.
1700 Tower 4 from Soudan arrives at UMN and brought into lab. It's all bundled up in bubble wrap and a coffee can protector. Will unpackage tomorrow. See image below:
