2016/03/10 (Thursday)

Previous Day

Setup: iZIP mode, DIB1/2/3 → cables → 3.2 MHz filters → DCRC55/33/50
Took some Ba series overnight. Unfortunately none of the series are good, several phonon channels railed.
0910 Tower = 31.2 mK, Still = 0.090 mbar, G1/G2 = 145/130 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.56 K / 3.4 mbar, Main bath = 40.8%
0915 Fill LN2 cold trap Dewar
0915 Restore all phonon channels with relocks
0917 Start one 30min Ba series at -4/+4 V with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown between series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1021 Start one 30min Ba series at -4/+4 V with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown between series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1125 After checking that all phonon traces are still alive, place Ba source back in safe.
1140 Set all pB & pD channels on all three DIBs to opposite values of their QET biases (i.e. negative for DIBs 1&3, positive for DIB2). Adjust Driver Offsets to unrail channels.
1145 All channels revived but DIB2 pD shows sporadic burts of ~50mVpp noise on pulses. We've seen it before, though it's unclear if we've ever been the reason it goes away. Attempt zapping SQUIDs to get rid of it.
1200 After zapping, the sporadic noise is still present on DIB2 pD. Increasing the Feedback Gain for that channel increases the total white noise levels, so the sporadic noise is lost in the newly amplified white noise. The noise is being introduced after the Feedback Gain amplifier in the circuit. Tightening up the connection between DCRC2 and the DSUB connectors had no effect on the sporadic noise. Flipping the QET bias back to the original negative value for DIB2 pD shows pulses w/o this sporadic noise. Switch back and forth between QET biases to confirm that in the normal negative value, pD does not show this noise. Switch the channels so that on DIB2 pA and pC are the ones with the positive (opposite) QET biases and pB and pD are the channels with negative (usual) QET biases.
1220 Start one 30min background series at -4/+4 V with alternating signs for QET biases with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown before series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1344 Check phonon pulses. All good. Start one 30min Ba series at -4/+4 V with alternating signs for QET biases with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown before series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1345 Place Ba source at back of shield at usual height.
1455 It looks like at ~1425, mhttpd aborted, which caused network errors for MIDAS. Had to kill and restart the MIDAS programs. Sequencer is now finished. Take another series since we only got ~1/2 of what we wanted. All channels alive.
1457 Start one 30min Ba series at -4/+4 V with alternating signs for QET biases with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown before series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1605 Commence LHe transfer (30.5%).
1640 Cease LHe transfer (92.3%).
1645 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1655 Release pressure from Main Bath.
1657 All channels still alive.
1727 Start 13 30min Cf series at -4/+4 V with alternating signs for QET biases with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown before series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1730 Place Cf source near where top of shield would be for overnight data taking.
