2015/10/12 (Monday)

Previous Day

Current setup: iZIP mode, DIB1/2/3 → cables → 3.2 MHz filters → DCRC55/33/50.
Overnight: Tried taking background data but failed after first series. Second series wrote and copied to /chocula but didn't process. A third series directory was created on vuk-01 but it is empty - apparently DAQDAQ got stuck at that point.
0855 DAQDAQ is still running (arrow is black), and the EventBuilder window is open but not running, showing rate = 0.02 Hz and event number = 10001. The three windows showing traces are not open, so it looks like on the third series DAQDAQ was able to create a directory and open EventBuilder but got stuck there.
0905 Tower/MC(H35)/MC sensor/Cold Plate = 30.9/25.1/41/158 mK, Still = 1.36 K / 0.11 mbar, G1/G2 = 145/155 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.72 K / 22 mbar, Main bath = 34.8%
0910 Fill LN cold trap Dewar.
0915 Stop DAQDAQ, close EventBuilder. Channels look ok on DetectorReadout, no visible low-f noise. Stop data vi's and Putty sessions to release DCRCs for MIDAS tests.
1542 Commence LHe transfer (43.2%).
1620 Set up LabVIEW DAQ after MIDAS tests. All channels there, and only slight low-frequency noise. Commence resetting threshold values to optimal (lowest possible) values.
1625 Set phonon thresholds as low as possible:
A B C D
DIB1 36 40 42 40
DIB2 24 18 20 30
DIB3 40 46 44 40
1635 End LHe transfer at 92.3%
1648 Start background data : 20 cycles of 15min series at -/+2V, FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 2000 events/file, 30s flash and 30min cooldown in between.
Rate looking good.
1725 After first cycle, flashing didn't automatically stop, so had to manually stop it. Fridge should still cool down in time, though it will be close.
1733 Stop DAQDAQ and add in code to make it wait for two extra minutes after flashing before closing MultiDAQ. This may have been what caused the flash to continue. MultiDAQ may have been told to stop the run, which would have killed EventBuilder, which is the VI that actually flashes the detector for the correct amount of time. If this had been killed, it would have been unable to send the command to stop flashing. Why the programs would have taken longer to execute than in the past is not clear, and whether or not this fix will work remains to be seen.
1758 Tower temperature back to 31mK. Start data again - 19 cycles instead of 20 this time, but all the same settings.
1800 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
