Run 73 Analysis Planning

Main analysis goals

  1. Position Studies: reconstructing position using our data at different source positions (Derek)
    1. relative timing between channels (delay). Need Am-selection
    2. relative amplitudes between channels (partition). Need Am-selection and channel balancing
  2. Resolution Studies: characterizing resolution and optimizing threshold
    1. noise width versus bias. Likely the best bias is +300V. (Pramod)
    2. single-channel mode. Optimize noise width and use position data to determine fiducial volume & energy correction (Zach)
  3. Detector Physics Studies: detector bias mystery, HV noise and charge leakage characterization
    1. calculate effective bias at all applied biases (Pramod, Matt)
    2. HV noise versus effective bias, and inferred charge leakage (Pramod)
    3. more study of gain versus time at constant bias…

Pre-analysis tasks

  1. Time-correction: in some drifted data the gain varies significantly during the series. This can be corrected to improve energy reconstruction. (Michael?)
  2. Channel balancing: due to inconsistencies in temperature and QET biasing, we probably want to balance channels for each series individually. (Derek, Matt)
  3. Am-241 selection cuts: this will vary with source position.

Other issues

  1. pD had unusually low gain; why? Examine detector…
  2. Pulse shapes are highly variable - specifically non-primary channels at high bias have much broader pulses than primary channels or 0-Volt series
  3. Large energy tails seen in the peaks, particularly 60keV at high bias, and also lower-energy lines at high radius. Interesting…
