Run 68 Template Construction

This page describes the construction of pulse templates for UMN 68 data.

Processing Round 1

In the first round of processing, calculated templates were constructed by cdmsbats for simplicity. The templates were double exponentials, ~exp(-t/T_rise)-exp(-t/T_fall), with rise and fall times set by the following parameters in the cdmsbats config file:

PARAMETER_DOUBLE P_RISE_TIME	DETECTOR 1-15 =	35e-6
PARAMETER_DOUBLE P_FALL_TIME	DETECTOR 1-15 =	50e-6

These same templates were used for processing all R68 data at all biases.

Processing Round 2

For the second round of processing, we wish to use pulse templates optimized for energy ROI. The neutron capture signal is expected to be seen around 100-300eV, we are hoping to see the Compton step around 2keV, and we calibrate to the 241Am lines at 14keV and 18keV. Ideally we will be able to find a set of templates that work well at all of these energies.

-125V data

The -125V data is currently (11 Oct) the most promising. It has the lowest noise threshold and we have a good amount of PuBe, Bkg, and 22Na data. The development of these templates is described in detail here.
