Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Zach, Himangshu
1310 Take LN2 dewar to be filled.
1420 LN2 dewar is filled.
1431 Check contents of dump by opening V9, 704.7 mbar, turn on 3He pump to warm up pump, close V9.
1433 G1 is pretty high 72mbar, pump out lines with scroll pump. P1 is 7mbar but leave it
1435 Check contents of warm LN2 Trap 1: 11.9 mbar. Pump it out with the scroll pump.
1439 G1 = 2.5 mbar and stable, stop pumping on trap 1.
1440 Check contents of warm LN2 Trap 2: 7.8 mbar. Pump it out with the scroll pump.
1443 G1 = 1.6 mbar and stable, stop pumping on trap 2.
1447 3He pump became quite noisy, maybe it doesn't like pumping on nothing for this long? Turn it off
1448 Insert cold trap 1 into the LN2 bath, fill bath
1250 Begin cryocleaning through cold trap 1 following procedure Cryo-Clean Mixture
1253 Turn on the 3He pump
1255 Open V6 to 12% to start flow, G2 rising too fast, reduce V6 to 11%
1258 Open V6 to 12% to restart flow, then reduce to 11.9%
1311 Open V6 to 12.2% to restart flow
1608 Stop cryocleaning through cold trap 1, pump mixture to dump
1620 G1 = 1.6, P1 =.19 mbar, close all valves, leaving 710.9 mbar in the dump
Barometric pressure = 29.92“ (source is https://w1.weather.gov/data/obhistory/KMSP.html.) G2 = 710.9 mbar. Corrected dump pressure = 710.9 mbar

Ptrue[mbar] = Pdisplay[mbar] + ( Pbar[inHg] - 29.92 ) * 33.86

1622 Turn off 3He pump and pull cold trap 1 out of the LN2 bath
1456 Source Mover Notes:
With set absolute to X0 Y96, move to X-27 Y96 to get reading for endstop. X=-26 doesnot lead to a readable touch of the motor to the endstop post.
This sets the X calibration, I went X125 Y96 to reach the left side endstop reading. This implies, the overall number of steps division is 125-(-27) = 152.
After touching right pole, we need 20 steps to make it X arm horizontal while testing on the bench
For the Y arm, X-20 Y18 let the touch to the endstop resistance.
The process to go the endstop can be Y96 → Y64 → Y25 →Y20 →Y19/Y18. Sometimes I see the resistance stable at Y19 as well
