Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Giulia
Status Run 76 in progress
Setup Cables 2/3/1 → diverter/nothing/nothing → Side2-readout HV CONN 1/3/2 → HV 1(L)/2(R) → DCRC50(3)/DCRC55(1), DCRC33(2)→HV control, NaI trigger signal → DCRCX(4)
Lead/poly shield fully assembled. Boron-filled socks covering NaI detectors.
PuBe behind lead wall on West side of lead/poly shield.
1120 MC/Coldplate = 29.8/152 mK, Still = 1.14 K / 0.130 mbar / 0 mW, G1/G2 = 167/150 mbar, 1K Pot = 50° / 1.64 K / 26±2 mbar, MB = 31.7%
1132 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
It looks like MC temperature started decreasing and the new lowest value is again 29.6 mK, very close to what it had been before we started noticing the spikes.
Now there are smaller spikes with rises of about 1-2 mK, spaced around an hour apart
1420 Start MIDAS and pulse viewer. Terrible looking waveforms.
1430 Zap SQUIDS with DCRCs 1&3
1445 Try flashing detector through DCRC1 but it doesn't seem to work, MC temperature doesn't increase much

There are some good pulses mixed in on some channels, interspersed with ugly stuff and oscillations
1515 We have been pumping the IVC continuously. Turbo on IVC = 1.6 nbar. With Turbo valved out for 1 minute, IVC = 12 nbar. Let's leave it valved out for now.
IVC rose to 16 nbar a bit later. When we started the LHe transfer, it dropped down to 6 nbar. At the end of transfer it was back up to 16 nbar.
1530 Begin LHe transfer @ MB = 26.1%
1621 End LHe transfer @ MB = 92.8%
1645 Noticed that HV is no longer ~ 0V, it's suddenly high, so external control must have failed…
1650 Restart DAQ programs with DCRC2 enabled. This knocks HV right back down to 0-ish volts. I guess DCRC2 maybe lost power at some point and reverted back to default settings or something
So all those observations about pulses earlier were at something like 300V bias. Now we're back to zero-ish bias. Seeing only weak pulses on DCRC3pD. Should check mini-IbIs tomorrow.
