Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt, Shubham
Status Run 76 prep. Cryostat Vacuum Jacket pumped out. Mixture cryocleaned three times. Tower installation in progress.
1335 Check contents of warm LN2 Trap 1, then pump out with Scroll Pump: 0.5→10.9→1.9 mbar.
1345 Check contents of warm LN2 Trap 2, then pump out with Scroll Pump: 0.6→5.2→2.0 mbar.
1355 Start cryocleaning mixture through LN2 Cold Trap 1, V6 = 12.0%
1410 Increase V6→ 12.4% to restart flow
1455 Stop cleaning through Trap 1 after 60 min. G2 flow pressure was 570-650 mbar. Pump mixture to dump.
Removed 5.7(4.4) mbar.
1340 Checking tower for shorts again. At first there were no shorts but then it came back: Face5pin7 is shorted to the 4K stage of the tower.
Take Tower into cleanroom, check on bench. Short comes and goes, not clear why. Poked a blade up behind Pin7 in case some metal bit was in there. Short is gone, can't seem to make it come back.
1410 Bring tower back into clean tent at fridge
1455 Raise tower and attach to MC can. Check for shorts along the way, didn't see any. Continuity check OK (except piezo inconclusive).
1545 Start installing 100mK shields and heatsinks
1615 Finish installing 100mK stage
1730 Finishing tower installation. SQUETs and interposer wires attached. Quick electrical check: at first saw short from phonon channels to chassis, pushed on SQUET at Face 5 a little and it went away. Everything else looks OK (didn't check piezo or LEDs)
1740 Finish attaching 4K heatsinks and attach bottom piece of IVC with indium o-ring
1750 Begin gently pumping IVC with Scroll Pump
Tighten IVC bottom bolts several times
1805 IVC reaches 0.1 mbar, that's pretty fast. Switch to pumping IVC with Turbo Pump.
