Previous Day

  • Lab in-personnel: Matt, Himangshu
Status Run 75 prep.
All mixture is in dump. Fridge isolated. 1K Pot isolated. LN2 Trap 2 still has contaminants in it. MB in pit, clean tent erected. Cryostat vacuum jacket (CVJ) pumped out. IVC open. Tower removed.
Beginning tower assembly following the plan in the run summary
1040 Put S104 in Position 1 on tower. DIB1-Face5.
1120 Attach resistors between endstops and chassis, so that we can verify connection to the endstops. Near/Far endstop = 6/22 kΩ. Soldered one end to endstop, tape the other end to the base plate. When doing this the near endstop came loose entirely, so it was reseated, which may have shifted its position. Measured the distance from the carriage to the endstop with calipers the best we could: carriage to near endstop = 15.41 mm, likely a little less than this because the caliper was at a bit of an angle. Also - adjusted the position of the carriage to be right at the center, using the centerline scratch marks.
1130 Place source mover housing in Position 2 above detector (facing Side 1). The far endstop is in the +y direction.
1135 Begin connecting phonon channel twisted pairs
1145 There are three repairs necessary. First: the two-pin plug for the LEDs needs to be filed down a little to fit next to the phonon channel plug. Second, on one of the phonon channel plugs all the wires were soldered to the pin side rather than the proper post side. Third, a wire broke off at the plug end of one of the phonon channel plugs.
1545 Finish repairs on phonon connectors - wired a new connector to replace the one that was soldered on the wrong side, and redo the one with the broken wire. Also finish filing down the edge of the LED connector so it will fit next to the phonon connector on DIB1.
1605 Finish all Tower wiring for the detector connections.
1620 Finish accessory wiring for the Tower (motor coils, endstops, Goldman thermometer).
1625 Do first step in securing wires to Tower body - wrap non-adhesive strip of Kapton around wires to hold them against the spool. Tape this strip down to the spool and tape the ends together.
1630 Quick electrical check at 4K side of Tower. All connections look good! No short to chassis seen in phonon channels.
