Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Derek
  • Virtual partner: Zach
Status Run 74 in progress. Warmed the fridge to fix short and thermal touch. Helium gas in cryostat vacuum jacket, partially pumped out. Mixture cryocleaned four times. IVC sealed and pumping overnight.
Friday we still saw a high leak signal, though lower than it has been. Been pumping on the IVC since then.
1054 Derek enters lab.
1055 Turbo on IVC = 16 nbar. With Turbo valved out for 1 minute, IVC = 300 nbar.
1057 LD is powered on, waiting for it warm up and then calibrate.
1117 Pump on IVC with LD, close Turbo valve and wait 1 minute: 285 pbarL/s.
this is significantly better than Friday but again still high. It's improving day-by-day so I'm going to continue to pump on it. I think there was excess He in the IVC, guess we over pressured it a bit. Let's try squirting around the seal a bit.
1124 LD on IVC settles around 285 pbarL/s. Try blowing He around IVC joint, also at a few other points. No increase seen, suggesting leak <2 pbarL/s.
Things are still looking good, I'm wondering if blowing out the IVC with nitrogen again would make things even better, don't have time to test that today.
1127 Valve out LD and return to pumping on IVC with the Turbo, we'll leave it in this state overnight.
1130 Derek Leaves lab.
