2021/03/26 (Friday)

Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Derek
  • Virtual partner: Zach
Status Run 74 in progress. Warming the fridge to fix short and presumed thermal touch. DCRCs off, disconnected. All mixture in dump. 1K Pot isolated. Helium gas in IVC and cryostat vacuum jacket. Fridge open to IGH.
0415 MC(Cernox)/Sorb = 129/250(max) K
0800 Recovery = 427220.28 cuft (8:00:00) / 0.12 cuft/hr.
0800 MC(Cernox) = 150 K. P1(fridge) = 8.5 mbar.

Warmup todo list:

  • Close Condenser speedivalve, Still gate valve, and all IGH valves
  • Close main bath recovery valve
  • Turn off recovery meter camera
  • Check Cable 3 qI Feedback short to chassis (and note the temperature)
  • Note that on Sunday the fridge computer will reboot. To restart the LabView VIs follow the fridge computer instructions
1448 Derek enters lab.
1450 Close condenser speedivalve, still valve and all IGH valves.
1459 Recovery = 427220.93 cuft / 0.07 cuft/hr.
1459 Close large orange wall valve and turn off camera.
1500 Unplug cable 3 from diverter board and into breakout box.
1503 MC(Cernox) = 181.9 K, cable 3 qi feedback to chassis < 1 ns. Looks like the short is gone entirely? Weird.
1526 Check warming rate using Newton's law of cooling and predicted dew point on Monday.
The dew point Monday should be around 277.6 K and around 270.5 K on Tuesday as per this
Calculated time until dew point is about 21 hours, meaning we should hit around 270 by tomorrow afternoon. That seems a bit fast so I may have messed up the calculation somewhere…
1532 Recalculated the heating (had an algebra mistake) from now until 277.6 K, the law gives roughly 51.4 hours which is just over two days meaning we should be close to dew point temperature by Sunday afternoon. Still seems fast, but I'm more confident with this number. I'm not going to let more gas into the vacuum jacket today. Will recheck warming rate over the weekend.
1540 Derek leaves lab.
