The computer used to view and control Fridge temperatures, pressures, valve settings etc. is spa-vuk1

This is a CSE-managed Windows machine. You can log in with your university web account, but for use with the fridge there is a shared lab account:

  • User: spa-k100lab
  • Password: [redacted]

After logging in you can find links on the desktop to the LabVIEW programs for the fridge (or got to c:\K100\K100LabVIEW). To start the fridge programs you can double-click the following:

  • Omni_Logger (temperature and bias-voltage monitoring)
    • Note: many of the options below are the default options.
    • At the bottom of the vi, in the VISA resource name drop-down menu choose “GPIB0::12::INSTR”
    • For Log every n seconds choose “6” and for Log n Hours of Data choose “24”
    • In LogFileFolder enter Z:\k100_log. (This maps to /data/chocula/k100/k100_log) in the Linux system
      • or, if that link isn't working, enter C:\K100\K100log. That will store the log data on the local machine.
    • Under File Naming select “automatic”
    • At the top click the arrow to Run the vi
  • Oxford 5.x\Startup (IGH monitor and control)
    • In the OI Menu change Menu Group to “Applications”
    • Click “IGH Front” to start the window that mirrors the IGH
    • Click “Kelvinox”, which will bring up KelvFrontPanel.vi. Click “Monitor” to start IGHMonitor.vi which plots fridge pressures etc.
    • To log temperatures and pressures, in LogFile Path enter the following format: “Z:\k100log\20181105_pressure.log”

To access spa-vuk1 remotely, use Remote Desktop, which is a way of controlling Windows machines remotely. Remote Desktop is generally already available on Windows computers but is I think downloadable for Macs as well. As mentioned on the SPA computer help pages if you want to do this from an off-campus computer you need to run a UMN VPN. Instructions for that are on the UMN IT website. To log in from Remote Desktop enter computer name “spa-vuk1.spa.umn.edu” and username “AD\spa-k100lab” and the password. Note: logging in from Remote Desktop automatically logs out the user on the computer and anyone else running Remote Desktop. Also logging in on the computer directly in the lab automatically ends any Remote Desktop session.
