2021/01/15 (Friday)

Previous Day

  • Lab in-person: Matt
  • Virtual partner: Derek
Status Run 74 prep. 1K Pot pumped out and isolated. Fridge and 4He and LN2 Trap 1 isolated, not pumped out. Cryostat vacuum jacket pumped out. IVC open, tower removed.
1100 Matt arrives at PAN.
1105 Check MAESTRO software on lab laptop in 443. Able to take and save data (ASCII option gives text file).
1125 Bill Gilbert wants to use the NIM crate we have the NaI detector plugged into. I disconnected the NaI detector, oscilloscope and Ortec module. I left the NIM crate with the modules inserted. Bill said he would swap the modules into the replacement.

1150 Remove source housing from top of tower stack to fix the source mover motor wire connector.

1200 Remove some of the Kapton tape from the connector. Only one wire is still attached to connector. Check with multimeter, looks like exposed wires are still OK.

1220 Remove some tape from end of motor 2 stripline. The wire ends are sorta bent and not the same length.
img_0267.jpeg
1240 Bend the motor 2 wire ends so that they line up nice, then add a bit of Kapton tape. Using the thicker, firmer Kapton.

1245 Add a piece of tape the the other side of the end of motor 2 stripline. Tried to put a curve into this so that hopefully the loop of the end of the stripline doesn't stick out as much.

1300 Desolder the one still connected motor 1 wire from the connector, then remove some Kapton from the end of the motor 1 stripline. The wire ends are very different in length; rather than trimming the one I soldered a piece of bare wire (the thin purple wire, stripped) to the short one to lengthen it.

1305 Mike Rother has got the building N2 gas working again, check the purge cabinet flow - looks good.

1310 Matt leaves PAN
