2019/11/08 (Friday)

Previous Day

Setup DIB1/2/4 → 3.2 MHz filters → cable 1/2/3 → gender changer 1/2/3 → movable source controller/board with external Feedback resistor/nothing → DCRC55(1)/DCRC33(2)/DCRC50(3)
0910 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 41.7/31.4/192 mK, Still = 1.52 K/ 0.130 mbar / 0 mW, G1/G2= 152/132 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.67 K / 33±2 mbar. MB= 65.2%
1100 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1100 Check the phonon channels. DCRC2pB fell into superconducting - adjust QET bias from -107 to -115. DCRC3pB railed, adjust driver offset to get it back.
With source on Side 2, it may be better to do -/+ bias direction, so Am events are hole events, which may give better position info because they drift on the z-axis.
1106 Start 60 min Bkg data series with S1/S2 = -/+4 V with edited phonon settings, Driver gain = 1, with 1000 initial randoms,
trigger on DCRC2pA/B/C/D = 8/8/8/8 ADC
using sequence timed_run.msl
1220 Tower = 41.4 mK
Flash detector.
1411 After lots of issues with cdmsbats, we are finally able to process some data. Looking at the data taken today, we can see the 241 Am events in the center as expected. The other channels don't look to strange even with the motor present. Let's try to move the source now!
1415 Connect arduino motor controller to DIB1 motor wires with Motor A/B = wires brown,orange/red,yellow. Connect ethernet cable to arduino and power it via usb. Open a teminal and connect to the arduino via telnet: telnet cdms-arduino1. Then type marco until it responds polo.
1418 Tower = 41.3 mK, might be a little less stable since powering the arduino.
1421 Looks like there's a little extra noise at ~15kHz in the phonons. Yep, it goes away when the arduino is powered down.
1428 Power arduino up again and connect to it via telnet. Set motor power supply to 8.0 V. Send command mvto 50 to move 50 steps.
Tower rises to 1.6 K, MC rose to a few hundred mK
1430 Tower = 230 mK and falling.
1440 Circulation pressures have slowly risen from 160 to 185 mbar. Then slowly fall as tower cools. Still pressure rose and fell also.
1445 Tower = 70 mK and falling. Now seeing phonon pulses again, previously just noise
1456 Tower = 53.5 mK and falling.
1457 Let's try another move but with lower dwell. Set wr dwell 8 (was 15 previously).
Send command mvto 100. Tower spikes to 1.35 K and starts to cool.
1500 Tower = 270 mK
1503 Tower = 141 mK
1506 Tower = 106 mK
1508 MC = 66.1 mK
Send command mvto 150. MC rises to 198 mK, then starts to cool.
1512 MC = 141 mK
1515 MC = 98.3 mK
1516 Tower = 120 mK. Power down arduino setup by shutting off motor power supply, quitting arduino telnet session, and unplugging arduino power.
1550 Tower = 47.6 mK, getting back to normal. Circulation pressures are close to normal too.
1601 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1624 Tower = 43.4 mK. Adjusted phonon driver offsets, channels look good.
1624 Start 60 min Bkg data series with S1/S2 = -/+4 V with edited phonon settings, Driver gain = 1, with 1000 initial randoms, followed by 30s flash
trigger on DCRC2pA/B/C/D = 8/8/8/8 ADC
using sequence timed_run_and_flash.msl
1753 Tower = 41.7 mK
1757 Start 60 min Bkg data series with S1/S2 = -/+4 V with edited phonon settings, Driver gain = 1, with 1000 initial randoms, followed by 30s flash
trigger on DCRC2pA/B/C/D = 8/8/8/8 ADC
using sequence timed_run_and_flash.msl
1908 Tower = 41.6 mK. Power up. connect to arduino, turn on motor power supply. Set the current step with wr currstep 150. Set the dwell with wr dwell 8.
Shoot, something I did there made the tower temp spike to 1.9 K.
1916 Tower = 185 mK
1916 Tower = 145 mK. Move 10 steps to step 160 with mv +10. Tower spikes to 780 mK.
1923 Tower = 140 mK. Move 10 steps to step 170 with mv +10. Tower spikes to 820 mK.
1929 G1 peaked at 200 mbar
1931 Tower = 87 mK. If we're moving to higher radii, the first indium blocker should be at step 278. Let's go for it.
Send command mvto 278. Tower spikes to 1.6 K
1935 Tower = 268 mK
1937 Tower = 181 mK
1939 Power down and disconnect arduino
2010 Tower = 50.5 mK
2025 Tower = 46.1 mK
2047 Tower = 43.7 mK. Adjusted phonon driver offsets, channels look good.
2048 Start 60 min Bkg data series with S1/S2 = -/+4 V with edited phonon settings, Driver gain = 1, with 1000 initial randoms, followed by 30s flash
trigger on DCRC2pA/B/C/D = 8/8/8/8 ADC
using sequence timed_run_and_flash.msl
2130 A quick look at this latest data shows the 60keV line still visible. So either we're moving towards the center of the detector, or we're not moving, or the motor is skipping steps.
0024 Start 6×60 min Bkg data series with S1/S2 = -/+4 V with edited phonon settings, Driver gain = 1, with 1000 initial randoms, followed by 30s flash
trigger on DCRC2pA/B/C/D = 8/8/8/8 ADC
using sequence take_and_flash_loop.msl
