Previous Day

Status: Mixture has been cryocleaned several times. Tower has been assembled, ready for installation.
Installation
0845 Remove Cf source from purge cabinet in clean room back to safe.
1000 Bring tower into fridge clean tent and begin installation.
1050 Attach tower to 30 mK can and remove insertion tool. Tower face 5/3/1 oriented toward E/SW/NW
1235 Torque 30 mK can screws. Plug in thermometer.
1430 Install 100 mK shield and heatsinks and connect 600mK rod. With the current 100mK can and tower positions, one orientation of the 100mK shield causes the 600mK rod to touch the edge of the slot it passes through. Flipping the shield helps, but maybe we should widen the slot next time we deinstall. We end up taping over much of it anyway, so widening it a little bit shouldn't matter.
1445 Tape up gaps in 100 mK shield
For the 4K shield we had decided earlier today that for this run we'd install the shield but not the heat sinks.
1500 Remove heat sinks from 4K shield and start to install it. But noticed that the bottom of the tower hits the shield at one corner. We considered whether the shield itself helped protect colder stages from thermal radiation from things warmer than 4K, and decided that when the FETs are off and the SQUETs are cold, it really doesn't. So in the end we left it off.
1530 Begin attaching installing SQUETs. Striplines #43/#41/#48 → SQUETs ZC-68/ZC-23/ZC-24 → E/SW/NW
1600 Finish installing SQUETs.
1620 Electrical checkouts on all 3 DIBs: look OK. DIB3 has bad SQUID A (as last time) and bad SQUID B (new), but these channels aren't used. Interchannel resistances checked on each DIB, around 300 Ω for the connected channels (open for others). Also checked leakage from Electrode (DIB4 QET A & return) to connected channels on DIB4, less than 0.3 nS.
1700 Put indium o-ring on bottom IVC can and start attaching screws. While still loose, another quick electrical check: all look OK still.
1735 IVC screws are all pretty tight.
Start pumping out IVC slowly with scroll pump.
1745 Scroll pump on IVC = 0.12 mbar
1750 Turn on turbo pump, wait for it to get to speed
1755 Scroll pump on IVC = 86 μbar
1800 Scroll pump on IVC = 74 μbar
Start pumping IVC with scroll pump
1755 Turbo pump on IVC = 1.2 μbar
1315 Start filling HPGe dewar from lab LN2 dewar.
1430 HPGe dewar full.
