Previous Day

Reinstalled tower yesterday. Pumping out IVC overnight.
0845 Turbo = 120 nbar
1030 IVC = 2.2 ubar with pump valved out. This and pumping pressure are a lot higher than last time.
1035 Retighten bottom IVC screws
1040 Leak detector on IVC. Leak 58 pbarL/s with turbo pump still pumping on IVC. Leak 770 pbarL/s with turbo valved out.
1050 Retighten screws at middle IVC seal and at IVC/stripline tube seal
1055 Do squirt leak-checks at IVC seals and around pump manifold. Discovered that I left the green gas-inlet valve open at the manifold overnight, so we were pumping on the plastic tube to the wall. That explains our relatively poor IVC pressure and high background leak. Close this valve, start pumping IVC with turbo again.
1100 Turbo = 30 nbar (down from 120 this morning)
1250 Turbo = 19 nbar. Leak = 610 pbarL/s with turbo valved out. IVC = 300 nbar with turbo and LD valved out.
1315 Leak check IVC. Around top of stripline tube, strong blast causes 600→650 pbarL/s rise. No other leaks seen.
1330 Raise main bath
1345 Check pressure in 1K Pot: P2 = 28 mbar. Pump out with scroll pump.
1400 Pump out fridge lines on both sides with scroll pump
1505 Let mixture from 3He pump through cold LN2 Trap 2 into fridge lines, both sides. (Most mixture still in dump.)
Leak detector on IVC - no increase in signal (leak = 530 pbarL/s).
1535 Pump out main bath with scroll pump to <1 mbar on P2.
1540 Pressurize main bath with helium to 384 mbar above 1atm on G3. No noticeable increase in IVC leak, about 520 pbarL/s.
1540 Open 1K Pot speedivalve to pressurize it with helium also.
1545 Let 5.4 mbar He exchange gas into IVC
1545 MC(Cernox) = 297.2 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 5.4 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 215 mbar, Level resistor = 0.985 kΩ.
1550 Begin LN2 transfer
1555 MC(Cernox) = 296.3 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 5.4 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 214 mbar, Level resistor = 0.999 kΩ.
1600 MC(Cernox) = 295.3 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 5.4 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 214 mbar, Level resistor = 1.027 kΩ.
1610 MC(Cernox) = 289.2 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 4.6 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 214 mbar, Level resistor = 1.051 kΩ.
1640 MC(Cernox) = 256.8 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 4.0 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 213 mbar, Level resistor = 1.118 kΩ.
1650 MC(Cernox) = 239.8 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 3.4 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 211 mbar, Level resistor = 1.149 kΩ.
1720 MC(Cernox) = 194.1 K, Sorb = >249 K (max), IVC = 2.5 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 209 mbar, Level resistor = 1.258 kΩ.
1730 MC(Cernox) = 181.5 K, Sorb = >232.1 K, IVC = 2.2 mbar, G1 (fridge) = 209 mbar, Level resistor = 1.308 kΩ.
1805 Level resistor = 1.337 kΩ. Stop LN2 transfer.
Cryocleaning mixture
0855 Start cryocleaning mixture through cold LN2 Trap 2, V6 = 12.8%
0900 Increase V6→13.0% to speed up flow
1025 Stop cryocleaning, Trap 2 90 minutes. Note that the flow may have stopped while I was at the group meeting.
1045 Start cryocleaning mixture through cold LN2 Trap 1, V6 = 13.3%
1055 Increase V6→13.4% to speed up flow
1155 Stop cryocleaning, Trap 1 70 minutes.
1205 Check pressure in warm LN2 Trap 2: 5.0 mbar. Pump out with scroll pump.
1220 Start cryocleaning mixture through cold LN2 Trap 2, V6 = 13.0%
1225 Increase V6→13.1% to speed up flow
1250 Increase V6→13.2% to speed up flow
1340 Stop cryocleaning, Trap 2 80 minutes.
1350 Check pressure in warm LN2 Trap 1: 15.2 mbar. Pump out with scroll pump.
1450 Check pressure in mostly-warm LN2 Trap 2: 6.4 mbar. Pump out with scroll pump.
