2018/03/11 (Sunday)

Previous Day

Status: warming. Main bath empty. LN2 traps pumped out, mixture in dump. 1K Pot evacuated and isolated. Helium in cryostat vacuum jacket.
Note Daylight Saving time began today
1040 MC(Cernox) = 187.5 K
1620 MC(Cernox) = 200.8 K
Newton's Law of Cooling/Warming suggests that at this rate the fridge won't reach 273 K until Wednesday morning. Should add more gas to vac jack.
1705 MC(Cernox) = 201.6 K
1709 Let 10 mbar N2 gas into vacuum manifold. Then open cryostat vacuum jacket valve to let this into the vacuum jacket.
1734 Warming rate hasn't increased much.
Let 30 mbar N2 gas into vacuum manifold. Then open cryostat vacuum jacket valve to let this into the vacuum jacket.
1744 Let 63 mbar N2 gas into vacuum manifold. Then open cryostat vacuum jacket valve to let this into the vacuum jacket.
1802 Let 100 mbar N2 gas into vacuum manifold. Then open cryostat vacuum jacket valve to let this into the vacuum jacket.
1814 Let 100 mbar N2 gas into vacuum manifold. Then open cryostat vacuum jacket valve to let this into the vacuum jacket.
note vacuum jacket reads about 12 mbar
1820 MC(Cernox) = 204.4 K
1835 MC(Cernox) = 204.85 K
1855 MC(Cernox) = 206.1 K
1915 MC(Cernox) = 207.2 K
1935 MC(Cernox) = 208.4 K
So looks like I've reduced the time constant from 43 hours to 25 hours. Still not fast enough to be warm tomorrow morning. Looks like it will hit 273 K early Tuesday morning.
1955 MC(Cernox) = 209.65 K
2015 MC(Cernox) = 211.05 K
2050 MC(Cernox) = 213.45 K
2120 MC(Cernox) = 215.6 K
Time constant is closer to 20 hours now, estimated time for 273 K is 10pm Monday
