Setup: DIB1/3/4 → SL 27/19/20 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 2,1,3 → HV board inputs 1,3,2 → HV board outputs 1,2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3). DCRC4 → HV power supply.
0710 HV = 69.88 V, V_leak = 2.42 mV
0710 Tower = 21.5 mK
0715 Dial HV from 70 V down to 0 V using changeHV_70_0.msl
0800 Flash detector for 30 seconds with DCRC1,3 LEDs
0905 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 21.6/24.9/152 mK, Still = 1.2 K / 0.100 mbar, G1/G2 = 246/219 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.63 K / 28 mbar, MB = 65.3%
0925 Dial HV up to 70 V with 15% 5-minute prebias, using changeHV_0_70_preBias15_5.msl
0935 Estimate event rate from random traces. Set PhononWaveformLength on DCRC1 to 131072 which is 52.4288 ms and counted visible pulses in 60 pA traces. Counted 126 pulses in 3.1457 seconds, so event rate is around 40.1 ± 3.6 Hz.
0940 Dial HV from 70 V down to 0 V using changeHV_70_0.msl
1038 Bring PuBe source into lab and place it within the cryostat poly shield, lowered into shield in plastic cup at NW corner down to about detector level.
after a few minutes Tower temperature rose from 21.4 to 21.6 mK
1244 Remove PuBe source from lab and move it to storage container in PAN 443
during removal the Tower temperature spiked to 31 mK then immediately began cooling to base
1255 Dial HV up to 70 V with 15% 5-minute prebias, using changeHV_0_70_preBias15_5.msl
1310 HV = 69.91 V, V_leak = 3.04 mV
1310 Tower = 21.5 mK
1310 Estimate event rate from random traces. Set PhononWaveformLength on DCRC1 to 131072 which is 52.4288 ms and counted visible pulses in 22 pA traces. Counted 117 pulses in 1.1534 seconds, so event rate is around 101.4 ± 9.4 Hz.
1314 Start 74-minute background data series at HV = 70V, Driver Gains = 2x, QET biases = 480/360/440/480/380/490 uA, Front-End Gains = 10/5 on DCRC1/3, 1000 initial randoms, trigger on DCRC3pD (Side1pF) threshold = 14
didn't bother to look at baselines, but it turns out they are OK
1320 HV = 69.92 V, V_leak = 2.85 mV
1405 HV = 69.91 V, V_leak = 2.59 mV
1430 HV = 69.92 V, V_leak = 2.60 mV
1430 Dial HV from 70 V down to 0 V using changeHV_70_0.msl
1440 Flash detector for 30 seconds with DCRC1,3 LEDs.
1520 Dial HV up to 70 V with 15% 5-minute prebias, using changeHV_0_70_preBias15_5.msl
1530 HV = 69.92 V, V_leak = 2.85 mV
1530 Tower = 21.7 mK
We'll try taking a bunch of randoms data. The intent is to see whether the noise peak changes over time after neutralizing the detector. (note that this is also shortly after activation so that may confuse the result a bit - may want to repeat this after the short-lived stuff dies off a bit)
1531 Start sequence of 3 60-minute background data series at HV = 70V, Driver Gains = 2x, QET biases = 480/360/440/480/380/490 uA, Front-End Gains = 10/5 on DCRC1/3, 1000 initial randoms, 20 Hz randoms. Using SimpleDataLoopNoFlash.msl
1537 DCRC3pD is railed, adjust D.O. from 0.45 to 0.2 to adjust it.
1630 Fill LN2 cold trap full
How low can we trigger? We want to avoid the channels that go into oscillations: DCRC1pC and DCRC3pD, and we should avoid the channels with the weird behavior that when we trigger on them we get hardly any high-energy events. So that leaves DCRC1pA and DCRC3pC, both inner-ring segments. DCRC1pA seems to have lower noise, so lets try that one.
1843 Start 44-minute background data series at HV = 70V, Driver Gains = 2x, QET biases = 480/360/440/480/380/490 uA, Front-End Gains = 10/5 on DCRC1/3, 1000 initial randoms, trigger on DCRC1pA threshold 12.
1852 Adjust DCRC1pB DCRC1pA D.O. from -0.7 to -1.0 in attempt to unrail it
1912 Oops, meant to adjust DCRC1pB. Return DCRCpA to -0.7. Adjust DCRC1pB D.O. from 0.02 to -0.3 in attempt to unrail it
1915 Tower = 21.5 mK
1915 HV = 69.90 V, V_leak = 2.49 mV
1917 Reduce trigger threshold from 12 to 10… so far looks like it's triggering on strong pulses
1922 Reduce trigger threshold from 10 to 8. Looks good.
1928 Start sequence of 2 60-minute background data series at HV = 70V, Driver Gains = 2x, QET biases = 480/360/440/480/380/490 uA, Front-End Gains = 10/5 on DCRC1/3, 1000 initial randoms, trigger on DCRC1pA threshold 8.
2130 Tower = 21.5 mK
2130 HV = 69.91 V, V_leak = 2.42 mV
2135 Dial HV from 70 V down to 0 V using changeHV_70_0.msl
2140 Flash detector for 30 seconds with DCRC1,3 LEDs
2220 Dial HV up to 70 V with 15% 5-minute prebias, using changeHV_0_70_preBias15_5.msl
2230 Tower = 21.7 mK
2230 HV = 69.93 V, V_leak = 2.65 mV
test with randoms again, will see whether noise peak degrades over time
2232 Start sequence of 7 60-minute background data series at HV = 70V, Driver Gains = 2x, QET biases = 480/360/440/480/380/490 uA, Front-End Gains = 10/5 on DCRC1/3, 1000 initial randoms, 20 Hz randoms. Using SimpleDataLoopNoFlash.msl
