2017/11/20 (Monday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → SL 27/19/20 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 2,1,3 → HV board inputs 1,3,2 → HV board outputs 1,2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3).
0925 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 27.7/25.8/151 mK, Still = 1.27 K / 0.110 mbar, G1/G2 = 172/173 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.65 K / 34 mbar, MB = 64.0%
0930 Fill LN2 cold trap bath.
1235 For DCRC1pB, which is the channel with very strong oscillations, IbIs scan results are a mess. Do a manual IbIs. Find that lower biases, 370-400, avoid the very strong oscillations. In the normal regime the oscillations are strong and you don't see the normal-state slope in IbIs, it looks flat.
1537 Programmable HV testing. Using DCRC4 QIbias voltage to control Kepco 1kV supply. Disconnect HV cable from HV detector biasing board. Using HP 3478A multimeter to measure HV voltage. With HV control cable not connected to DCRC4, set HV=100.00 V. Setting this by hand at a rate of about 2V/sec.
1542 Connect DCRC4's timing link, power DCRC4. In ODB, enable DCRC4, set DCRC4 as slave, turn on DCRC4 15V power, set DCRC4QI bias = 0 V.
1550 dcrcdriver program fails to start even if DCRC4 is disabled.
1553 Tried disconnecting and disabling DCRC4 and using telnet to RESET dcrcs 1,3. In the end I had to restart MIDAS to get the dcrcdriver program to work.
1555 Connect HV control cable to BNC port on DCRC4 adapter board. HV = 97.94 V
1556 Adjust DCRC4QI bias and record HV bias to calibrate. Response is mostly linear, but with a changing slope near HV = 0 V. May need to implement a lookup table or something for flashing. remotehv_cal.xls
1648 Use DCRC4 to set HV = 0 V. Run test sequence HVscanTest. Success! Script successfully ramped up voltage, pre biased, and reduced it back down.
1659 Go back to earlier state in the following order. Dial down Kepco power supply to ~0 V by hand, set DCRC4QI = 0 V, stop dcrcdriver, power down DCRC4, unplug HV control cable from DCRC4, disable DCRC4 in ODB.
1704 Begin IbIs data sequence on DCRC1pB with HV=0V from 600 to 300 uA in -0.5 uA steps, 3 seconds of data per step. (IbIsDCRC1pB.msl)
apparently this was done in -5 uA steps, not -0.5 uA. Moved files to /byseries/07171120_2500
1705 Fill LN2 cold trap full. LN2 dewar empty.
