2017/06/07 (Wednesday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → 3.2 MHz filters 3/1/2 → cable 3/1/2 →gender changer 3/1/2 → HVConn 1/3/2 → HV 1/2 → DCRC55(1)/DCRC33(2)
PuBe source in paraffin barrel behind shield (west side)
was there a bake here??
temperature log indicates bake was started at 23:39 with 20 minute duration
0011 retrolog (Anthony) 1600s bake
0011 pre-bias to V=65.56V apparent
0036 finally tuned detector to HV=51.28, Vtest=3.25 mV –> Vdetector = 49.98 V
0038 Start 7 1-hour data series of 1-sided 50V HV coincidence data with Frontend Gain = (15/15/5)/(3/4/4), OG = 4/2, QET biases = 30 column from table from May 24, with 1000 beginning randoms, no flashing, and a 500ADC bin threshold trigger on DCRC4 pA (external trigger). Running OR trigger of NaI detectors with PuBe source on west side of shield. NaI detector C has 311 mV threshold and detector B has 288 mV threshold
0043 before leaving Vtest has creeped to 3.36 mV
0730 heading to lab, should be there by 8. -mf
0753 Tower = 33.1 mK, Main bath = 74.2%
0755 HV = 51.28 V, Vtest = 4.02 mV → Vdetector = 49.67 V
0755 Dial HV down to 0 V, then short leads.
About to bake, noticed the duration had been changed to 20 minutes. Not sure why. For the last two data sets there is no indication in the run diary of a bake at all. I'm sure they were done but I don't know why they're not noted.
0805 Begin 30 minute bake with DCRCs 1&2.
0810 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
0852 Dial HV up to 65 V
0905 Dial HV down to 52.1 V, targeting Vdetector = 50.0 V
0920 There is “hair” on the tops of pulses in DCRC1pC. Only high-amplitude pulses are affected. In the affected pulses the PSD shows a high frequency oscillation peak, 200 kHz, like we see when front-end gain is too high. But reducing it doesn't help. Increasing the QET bias doesn't help either - I think that suggests that the problem is not at the TES itself.
0930 Changed DCRC1pC SQUID bias from -82 to -75. This gets rid of the hair. Maybe should redo the SQUID tuning to optimize the response, but for now will just leave this setting.
0930 Tower = 33.4 mK, a little warmer than base but pretty close
0936 Start 2 1-hour data series of 1-sided 50V HV coincidence data with Frontend Gain = (15/10/10)/(5/4/4), OG = 4/2, QET biases = 30 column from table from May 24, with 1000 beginning randoms, no flashing, and a 500ADC bin threshold trigger on DCRC4 pA (external trigger). Running OR trigger of NaI detectors with PuBe source on west side of shield. NaI detector C has 311 mV threshold and detector B has 288 mV threshold
0945 HV = 51.54 V, Vtest = 3.69 mV → Vdetector = 50.06 V. Adjust HV downward a little.
0950 Tower = 33.3 mK
1140 HV = 51.47 V, Vtest = 3.59 mV → Vdetector = 50.03 V
1140 Dial HV down to zero and short leads
1145 Begin 30 minute bake with DCRCs 1&2
1235 pre-bias to HV = 68.1V
1302 got voltage to HV=51.6V, Vtest = 4 mV → Vdetector = 49.998 V
1305 Start 5 1-hour data series of 1-sided 50V HV coincidence data with Frontend Gain = (15/15/5)/(3/4/4), OG = 4/2, QET biases = 30 column from table from May 24, with 1000 beginning randoms, no flashing, and a 500ADC bin threshold trigger on DCRC4 pA (external trigger). Running OR trigger of NaI detectors with PuBe source on west side of shield. NaI detector C has 311 mV threshold and detector B has 288 mV threshold
1306 Vtest has migrated to 3.94 mV
1314 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 33.4/31.2/191 mK, Still = 1.21 K / 0.110 mbar, G1/G2 = 226/205 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.674 K / 22.0 mbar. Main bath = 66.6%. Predicted level: 67.8%
1659 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1818 Vtest is 3.37
1818 turn down voltage
1818 retrolog (Anthony) 900s bake

was there a bake here??

1851 pre-bias to HV = 68.8
1859 settled to HV = 68.8, Vtest = 7.26 → Vdetector = 65.89V
1912 HV = 51.47 V, Vtest = 3.65 mV → Vdetector = 50.013V good enough for me!
1913 Start 5 1-hour data series of 1-sided 50V HV coincidence data with Frontend Gain = (15/15/5)/(3/4/4), OG = 4/2, QET biases = 30 column from table from May 24, with 1000 beginning randoms, no flashing, and a 500ADC bin threshold trigger on DCRC4 pA (external trigger). Running OR trigger of NaI detectors with PuBe source on west side of shield. NaI detector C has 311 mV threshold and detector B has 288 mV threshold
