2016/11/07 (Monday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 1,2,3 → HV board inputs 1,3,2 → HV board outputs 1,2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3)
HV at 0 V overnight
0820 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 33.0/34.3/230 mK, Still = 1.26 K / 110 μbar, G1/G2 = 170/155 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.71 K / 32 mbar. MB = 65.4%.
Boiloff rate: closer to slow- than fast-mode. But it's been a while since we've actually been at slow-mode. Annoying.
0830 Fill LN2 cold trap bath. LN2 Dewar is empty.
0830 Remove Cf source from fridge, replace in safe
1000 successfully biased all QETs. only measured Rps on a few channels out of need to make HV measurements before 4PM. Roughly same bias power as yesterday (recorded in table)
1047 07161107_1047 – 0V noise data. (20 min long). Single sided. Driver Gain = 2
1059 07161107_1059 – 30V noise data with a 5 min 40V pre-bias. Driver Gain = 2
1127 quickflash
1138 turning DCRC1chC superconducting. It has been very problematic and is injecting 8kHz noise + harmonics into other channels. turning it superconducting solves the problem. Leave it out of analysis (as before)
1142 07161107_1142 – -30V noise data with a 5 min -40V pre-bias. Driver Gain = 2
1200 quickflash
1230 quick look at today's data shows pre bias hasa good effect … following data sets will be very interesting.
1238 07161107_1227 – +45V noise data with a 5 min +55V pre-bias. Driver Gain = 2
1258 quickflash
1313 07161107_1310 – -45V noise data with a 5 min -55V pre-bias. After 5 minutes, comparing with -45V data set above, there seems to be more shot noise. By 8 minutes, it seems to have gone down. At 10 minutes, even calmer. Lets verify all this with PSDs Driver Gain = 2
1340 quickflash
1353 07161107_1353 – +60V noise data with a 5 min +75V pre-bias. After 5 minutes, doesn't look shot-noisy (i.e. pre-biasing is working and that there is a polarity dependence as seen in the -45V data above). However, slopes will be a challenge to cut. Driver Gain = 2
1425 quickflash
1438 07161107_1438 – -60V noise data with a 5 min -75V pre-bias. Within the prebias, takes 45 seconds for shot noise to appear. Makes sense since we know the detector voltage increases as the resistance to chasis on the board increases (see Ileak measurements in spreadsheet). A few channels rail (correct them), are higher in the transition, and very ratty. After 5 minutes, go down to 60V: traces still look ratty. After 8 min, found channel D railed. Fixed this (and signs of shot noise are still there). After 18 min. signs of shot noise still there. Driver Gain = 2
1720 Main bath = 52.0%
1725 Checklist: (1) Rn data with triangle wave. (2) long traces or stream for detector thermal relaxation time using muons. (3) take custom data set to triple check channel mapping of DAQ. (4) retake SC and N noise since SC was surprisingly similar to transition (although perhaps this is expected since the DCRC injects dV noise which could still be present in SC).
1735 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
