2016/11/01 (Tuesday)

Previous Day

Setup: DIB1/3/4 → 3.2 MHz filters → cables 1,2,3 → HV board inputs 1,3,2 → HV board outputs 1,2 → DCRC55(1)/50(3)
0910 Tower/MC/Coldplate = 31.8/34.5/216 mK, Still = 1.33 K / 120 μbar, G1/G2 = 165/160 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.73 K / 45 mbar. MB = 25.2%.
Boiloff rate: closer to slow- than fast-mode
0910 Return Cf source to safe.
0915 Fill LN2 cold trap bath.
1007 Commence LHe transfer (22.5%).
1112 End LHe transfer (77.8%).
1132 Release pressure from main bath
1245 Release pressure from main bath
1545 Hook up 0-1kV HV supply to HV board. As soon as it is plugged in the DCRC1 channels rail, then don't show any pulses at their operating QET biases. DCRC2 channels are OK except pD has some ugly noise.
1547 Flash detector for 30 seconds. (I had actually meant to try zapping it but I got confused…)
1600 Tower has cooled to 34, still cooling. Now zap the SQUIDs.
1640 The DCRC1 channels were still showing no pulses. Looked for operational QET bias values using the previous method: step down bias 1 μA at a time until it falls into s/c, then choose a value 5 μA above the lowest transition value. Except for DCRC1pC: the lowest transition value was 185 but 190 was in the strong oscillatory region, so instead we set this to 188 μA.
Channel Old QET bias [μA] New QET bias [μA]
HV 1 pA 179 185
HV 1 pB 185 191
HV 1 pC 184 188

It's unclear why these now require higher QET biases. We will redo the IbIs on these.

1725 MB = 72.2%.
1730 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
1750 Put out Cf source for overnight activation.
