Previous Day

Status Blockage seems to have disappeared yesterday. Still warming to room temperature. He gas in MB vacuum jacket. MB full of He gas, IVC has He transfer gas
0845 Fill LN2 cold trap bath
0850 MC(Cernox) = 288 K, IVC = 7.4 mbar
0850 Press Mains and Reset on pump electrical box. No lights came on. After that 3He pump starts up fine.
0855 Pump both LN2 trap contents to dump
0905 Remove LN2 traps from bath to let warm up
0910 Pump fridge contents to dump. Dump(G2) = 793.3 mbar
0915 Isolate IVC then attach scroll pump to MB vacuum jacket port, pump out line. Read pressure in vacuum jacket: 1.4 mbar.
0920 Begin pumping out vacuum jacket.
0930 MB vacuum jacket = 3.4 e-3mbar turbopumping, 0.12 mbar with pump valved out
0950 Trap 2 at room temperature, 14.7 mbar of contaminants. This is the one used to cryoclean yesterday. Pump out Trap 2 with 4He pump.
0930 MB vacuum jacket = 0.40 e-3mbar turbopumping, 40 e-3mbar with pump valved out
1000 Trap 1 at room temperature, 10.0 mbar of contaminants. Pump out Trap 1 with 4He pump.
1030 Return LN2 traps to bath
1030 MB vacuum jacket = 0.40 e-3mbar turbopumping, 34 e-3mbar with pump valved out
1055 MB vacuum jacket = 0.40 e-3mbar turbopumping, 30 e-3mbar with pump valved out. Stop pumping out jacket.
1105 Attach turbo pump line to IVC port, pump out lines.
note Accidentally disconnected pumping hose from vacuum jacket with the turbo pump valve open. Pump made a weird noise and shut itself down - luckily it was not an obviously break-y noise. Power-cycled turbo pump and got it going again, seems to be fine.
1110 Check IVC pressure: 5.4 mbar. But earlier it was higher, which is higher than what was originally put in before the initial LN2 transfer. So in case there's extra junk in there I will pump it out and put new He exchange gas in.
1115 Add 5.4 mbar He exchange gas into IVC.
1125 Backfill 1K Pot with He gas in preparation for cooldown.
1130 Commence LN2 transfer. Open Condenser Line Speedivalve so that fridge contents are open to He Cold Trap in hopes that any contaminants will be cryopumped into the trap rather than freezing in the fridge lines.
1145 Top off LN2 cold trap. Commence cryocleaning mixture through Cold Trap 1.
1205 MC(Cernox) = 272 K and falling, Sorb > 250 K, IVC = 4.6 mbar
1300 LN2 dewar has run out, and I don't think we have enough LN2 to last till tomorrow's blowout. Plug up LN2 fill port on Main Bath, put ping pong ball on exhaust port, and refill LN2 dewar.
1310 MC(Cernox) = 205 K and falling slowly, Sorb > 250 K, IVC = 3.4 mbar
1455 MC(Cernox) = 186 K
1456 Start LN2 transfer once again.
1540 MC(Cernox) = 261 K and falling faster, Sorb > 250 K, IVC = 2.2 mbar
1550 Sorb thermometer starts to read < 250 K
1600 MC(Cernox) = 145 K, Sorb = 239 K
1605 Cease cryocleaning. Commence pumping mixture to dump.
1630 Cease pumping to dump, P1=6 ubar, G2=795 mbar. Isolate dump. Turn off He-3 pump.
1635 Open Cold Trap 1 to P2 gauge and pull trap out of LN2 bath. P2 begins at 30ubar and begins rising.
1645 MC(Cernox) = 109 K, Sorb = 162 K, IVC = 1.6 mbar
1645 Stop LN2 transfer. Level resistor = 1.300 kΩ, ending a little early but we'll blow out early tomorrow.
