2016/06/17 (Friday)

Previous Day

Status Fridge warming. Mixture in dump, traps clean. He exchange gas in IVC. Some He gas in MB vacuum jacket.
MB pressure on G3 (which is currently still also the building recovery system pressure) was around 134 mbar rel overnight; starting around 6:40 spikes as high as 165 mbar rel seen as Bill Voje starts doing stuff.
0905 MC/Sorb = 260/“250”(maxxed) K. IVC = 10 mbar. MC is currently warming at a rate of about 4 K/hour.
0925 Fill IVC with N2 gas to about 780 mbar on mechanical gauge (only reads 400 mbar on Pfeiffer gauge)
at the current warming rate it will take another 8 hours to warm above dew point
0940 Close MB recovery valve
1210 MC = 268K. Lower Main Bath low enough to blow on IVC with fan and to pump out dewar jacket with scroll, then turbopump. IVC sweats a little but doesn't get frosty.
1245 Over-pressurized IVC with N2.
1250 With MB partially lowered (below the IVC), attach turbo&scroll pump manifold to MB vacuum jacket. Read 1.6 mbar in vacuum jacket (including bellows volumes). Begin pumping out vacuum jacket with scroll pump.
1255 Recovery check valve is now in the correct position, courtesy of Bill Voje.
1300 Begin turbo pumping MB vacuum jacket.
1330 Use scroll pump to pump out recovery manifold between the MB recovery valve and the main recovery valve to the outside, then backfilled with He gas. We attached the pump to 1K Pot pump outlet hose. This was a request from Bill V so that the air and glue fumes in our manifold left over from his job fixing it wouldn't get into the recovery system next time we push gas out.
1340 MC vacuum jacket = 6.3e-4 mbar pumping pressure, 4.0e-2 mbar with pump valved out
1450 MC = 294 K. Turn off fan blowing on IVC.
1455 MC = 294 K. Dewar jacket pressure with turbopump valved in: 5.4E-4 mbar. Isolating turbopump causes pressure to rise to 5.4E-2 mbar. Will need to continue pumping out dewar jacket after installation.
Isolate dewar jacket, and remove bellows. Lower dewar all the way into the pit, and set up/clean clean tent.
1648 Performing 300K electrical check. ON DIB1: QETB/Ret values are now ~130-200Ω, vs ~100Ω before cooldown. Likewise for QETC/Ret. PD Squid bias/ret ~3nS to gnd, somewhat elevated - typical is <1 nS. As seen in LN2 checkout, Feedback D/Ret to chassis =16kΩ/22Ω. DIB1 Qinner Feedback-to-Drain was seen to be open during 2016/06/15 electrical check, but it is now back to it's usual reading of 23 nS. This issue could have been cause by a loose cable connecting the Ebox to the Breakout box. On DIB2: Feedback D/Ret to chassis =1.0kΩ/19kΩ.
1720 Noticed that Still gate valve and Condenser speedivalve were left open. Why weren't these closed after pumping the mixture to dump? Closing them now.
