Previous Day

1107 Commence LHe transfer (4.3%).
Mixing chamber temperature had spiked earlier this morning for no apparent reason to 50mK, but has since dropped to 47mK before beginning transfer. Temperature had stayed relatively stable at 45.2mK overnight.
1233 After refilling large LN2 dewar, fill LN2 cold traps bath.
1330 Cease LHe transfer (94.4%). I don't know why it was so slow. The applied He gas was a bit lower pressure than we usually add, so that was a contributing factor likely. MC Temp had dropped to ~41mK during the transfer, though it spiked as usual during the end of the transfer.
1451 During electrical check on DIB 1, tower temperature spiked from 46 mK, to 400 mK, and then quickly dropped.
1515 After letting the tower cool, we were able to replicate the rise in temperature by placing the ground lead in the LED2 port on the BOB and touching the positive lead to the chassis of the BOB. This caused an instant spike in temperature, whereas none of the other configurations (i.e. LED 1 or switching the leads) caused a rise in temperature.
1535 I knew I'd seen this behavior before. Last December we saw this while testing the LEDs for detector G106a in Run 55. We ignored this behavior last time, so unfortunately, I don't think it can be blamed for our higher than average base temperature. Moving right along. NOTE: NO need to worry about checking LEDs this low in the future.
1642 Over past 40 minutes, tower temperature has risen from 48.5 mK to 52.5 mK. Unsure of the cause, possible DCRC boards? Unpower boards.
1650 Commence temperature studies while increasing Mixing Chamber Heater Power. Result in table below.
Mixing Chamber Heater Power (uWatts) Mixing Chamber Temperature (mK) Tower Temperature (mK) Still Temperature (K) Cold Plate (mK)
0 46.9 51.5 1.12 267
50 94.5 96.0 1.08 270
100 132.8 133.8 1.065 280
1721 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1820 Mixing chamber temperature levels off back around 41.9mK.
