2016/03/14 (Monday)

Previous Day

Setup: iZIP mode, DIB1/2/3 → cables → 3.2 MHz filters → DCRC55/33/50
DAQ idle over the weekend, DCRCs powered
0855 Tower = 31.1 mK, Still = 0.090 mbar, G1/G2 = 160/160 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.59 K / 4.5 mbar
0900 Fill LN2 cold trap full.
Plan today to warm tower up above 1.2 K again then recool, with mu-metal shield in place. Then take Ba data to compare to the unshielded cooldown case.
0900 Close V6 to stop circulation. After five minutes, Tower → 200 mK and rising, G1/G2 → 100 mbar and falling, Still → 4 mbar and rising.
0905 Close v13b and turn off circulation pump.
0910 Set MC heater to 1 mW. Tower = 305 mK, G1/G2 = 60/95 mbar, Still = 7 mbar.
0930 Tower = 950 mK, G1/G2 = 20/95 mbar, Still = 600 mbar.
0930 Open V14 to release still pressure into dump.
0940 Tower = 1.26 K, G1/G2 = 18/95 mbar, Still = 80 mbar. Still pressure is rising again.
0950 Close V14 and open V3 to see pressure on G1. G1 doesn't change much, falls a little. So Still pressure must not be very high. Close V3 and open V14 again.
1000 Tower = 1.62 K, G1/G2 = 18/90 mbar, Still = 1000 mbar (off scale)
1015 Tower = 1.61 K, G1/G2 = 25/90 mbar
1030 Tower = 1.65 K, G1/G2 = 25/90 mbar
1045 Tower = 1.70 K, G1/G2 = 30/90 mbar
Detector is well above Al transition (1.2 K)
1050 Turn off MC heater. Turn on 3He pump. Open V13b. Open V6 to 12%. (Leaving v14 open.)
1055 G1/G2 = 67 mbar. Open V6 in steps of 0.5%. At 13.5% G1/G2 begin to rise.
1100 G1/G2 = 120 mbar.
1105 G1/G2 plateau at 130 mbar, open V6 to 14%. G1/G2 rise quickly to 450 mbar. 1K Pot rises to 1.7 K / 13 mbar then falls again
1113 Still pressure falls into readable range. G1/G2 peak at 520 mbar then fall again. Tower temperature falling.
1115 G1/G2 = 430 mbar, Still = 26 mbar, Tower = 1.4 K
1115 Open V6 to 14.5%. G1/G2 rise somewhat.
1120 G1/G2 = 360 mbar and falling, Still = 5 mbar, Tower = 1.15 K.
1125 Open V6 in steps of 0.5%, no increase seen in G1/G2. Open V6 100%.
1130 Still = 1.3 mbar, Tower = 0.70 K, G1/G2 = 250 mbar. 1K Pot = 1.56 K / 4 mbar.
1145 Still = 0.5 mbar, Tower = 110 mK, G1/G2 = 205 mbar. Dump nearly empty so close V14. Still pressure falls to 0.12 mbar.
1155 Still = 0.10 mbar, Tower = 52 mK, G1/G2 = 175 mbar.
1310 Tower = 31.3 mK, G1/G2 = 140 mbar, Still = 0.095 mbar, 1K Pot = 1.59 K / 4.0 mbar
1320 Check phonon traces. DIB1 pB, DIB2 pB, DIB3 pB (weird) traces are alive; all other channels are railed. Relocking SQUIDs and adjusting Driver Offsets brings them back.
1340 Perform mini IbIs on DIBs 1-3 in standard setup with the mu-metal shield in place during the cooldown.
1345 Unpower DCRCs, remove DSUB pi-filter, attach pi-filter switchboards with all switches ON, repower DCRCs, zap SQUIDs.
1405 Perform mini IbIs on DIBs 1-3 with pi-filter switchboards on all DIBs and all switches ON.Mu-metal shield was in place during the cooldown.
1410 Unpower DCRCs, remove pi-filter switchboards from standard position between gender swapper and DCRCs, and place it up on EBox so the setup goes: EBox → Pi-Filter Switchboard → Cables → Gender Swapper → DCRCs. Repower DCRCs. Zap SQUIDs.
1515 Commence LHe transfer (34.0%).
1555 Cease LHe transfer (85.7%).
1605 Wrap all three pi-filter switchboards in aluminum foil and reattach directly to back of DCRCs so setup is EBox → Cables → Gender Swapper → Pi-filter Switchboard (All Switches ON) → DCRCs.
1610 Repower DCRCs, zap SQUIDs.
1615 Perform mini IbIs on DIBs 1-3 with foil-shielded pi-filter switchboards on all DIBs and all switches ON. Mu-metal shield was in place during the cooldown.
1630 Unpower DCRCs, remove pi-filter switchboards, reattach DSUB pi-filters. Repower DCRCs. Zap SQUIDs.
1705 All pulses look good.
Release pressure from Main Bath. Fill LN2 cold trap full.
1815 Start 4 hours of 30min Ba series at -4/+4 V with FG=5/2/5, OG=3, with 1000 initial randoms, 1000 ending randoms, with 30s flash and 25 minute cooldown between series. Trigger on DIB1 phA with threshold of 30ADC bins, with 150 us pileup cut window.
1820 Place Ba source at back of fridge near where top of shield would be.
